Lucknow, a manager's plan to steal Rs 22.13 lakh from the store's cash room was thwarted by an unexpected detail: his choice of footwear. The theft was caught after senior managers reported the theft to police, leading to an investigation and subsequent apprehension of all 36 employees for questioning. During investigation, police shifted the focus towards an insider due to the absence of any external access to the cash room.DCP Vineet Jaiswal, in charge of the South Zone, stated ANI that during the thorough interrogation of the employees, suspicions arose surrounding the floor manager, Dileep, after numerous colleagues pointed out Veer Shankar's incriminating remarks.
Shankar allegedly spread rumors of management's dissatisfaction with Dileep, insinuating an impending termination, which may have motivated him to orchestrate the theft. Simultaneously, closed scrutiny of CCTV footage by the police team unveiled the presence of a suspicious woman customer entering the mart around noon. Her disguise included jeans, long hair covered with a dupatta, and sunglasses, raising eyebrows among investigators.
Intriguingly, a prolonged analysis of the footage revealed that the slippers worn by the customer appeared more masculine than feminine. After cross-referencing with all employees, it was discovered that Veer Shankar possessed similar slippers, casting suspicion on him. DCP Jaiswal disclosed that Shankar was subsequently subjected to questioning, during which he confessed to the crime.
