Chinese electric vehicle maker, XPeng (NYSE:XPEV) announced Friday that the company has successfully rolled out its XNGP Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) for customers in 27 more cities. expansion includes prominent cities such as Tianjin, Chengdu, Xi'an, Wuhan, and Changsha.
“The inflection point of ADAS technology will come with the achievement of nationwide coverage with low cost, a high level of safety and great customer experience,” said CEO He Xiaopeng.
As of now, XNGP is accessible to XPENG Max trim customers in 52 cities. Looking ahead, by the beginning of 2024, XPENG aims to extend XNGP availability to 200 cities throughout China.
Following this achievement, XPeng has become the first Chinese automaker to provide comprehensive urban ADAS coverage nationwide on such a substantial scale. This achievement marks a crucial advancement in the company's technology roadmap, aimed at catalyzing widespread acceptance and usage of autonomous driving capabilities.
The latest over-the-air update from XPENG brings substantial improvements to a wide array of ADAS functions, enhancing the safety, comfort, and smoothness of the smart driving experience for XPENG owners. XNGP has been finely tuned to seamlessly adjust to various driving scenarios in different cities.
“I strongly believe that the demand for ADAS will surge in the next five years, and XPENG will be the preferred Smart EV brand for consumers.” Added Xiaopeng.
Shares of XPEV are up 3.12% in mid-day trading on Friday.
