Aadhaar and PAN expired on June 30, 2023, and the government has not issued any extensions. From July 1, 2023, if PAN is not linked to Aadhaar, it will become inoperative. One needs to make a payment of Rs 1,000 through the E-filing portal in order to link their PAN with their Aadhaar. If you have failed to link PAN with Aadhaar and you need to check if your PAN is operative, one of the ways to check is by using your Form 26AS.

If the status of your PAN is inoperative, it can be made operative again in 30 days, upon intimation of Aadhaar to the prescribed authority after payment of fee of Rs.1,000. According to the PIB press release dated March 28, 2023, “The PAN can be made operative again in 30 days, upon intimation of Aadhaar to the prescribed authority after payment of fee of Rs.1,000.”
