Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday attacked NCP chief Sharad Pawar for portraying him as a villain. Ajit Pawar reiterated his deep respect for Sharad Pawar but asked him to consider retirement. “You portrayed me as a villain in front of everyone.
I still have deep respect for him (Sharad Pawar)...But you tell me, IAS officers retire at 60...even in politics," Ajit Pawar said. Ajit Pawar cited BJP leaders who retire at the age of 75 and gave the examples of LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. The Deputy Chief Minister asked for the blessing of his uncle and prayed that he lives a long life.
"BJP leaders retire at 75. You can see the example of LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi...That allows the new generation to rise...You (Sharad Pawar) give us your blessings....The other day, he went to YB Chavan memorial...I have also been there...but you are 83, aren't you going to stop?.. Give us your blessings and we will pray that you live a long life," he added.
In a show of strength, Ajit Pawar addressed the NCP leaders and workers at MET Institute of Management in Bandra. Ajit Pawar has knocked the door of Election Commission of India (ECI) and staked the claim to Nationalist Congress Party and party symbol, the sources of ECI told news agency ANI. The election body also received a caveat from Jayant Patil, National President Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) which informed that they have initiated the process of disqualification of 9 MLAs.
