Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
YSR Congress chief will continue to extend support to the BJP on crucial issues despite the buzz about the saffron party entering into an alliance with Andhra Pradesh's main opposition player TDP, sources said. Reddy's meeting with both Modi and Shah assumes significance as the YSRCP's support has been crucial for the BJP in passage of important legislations in the Rajya Sabha where the ruling alliance does not enjoy majority.
Sources in the YSR Congress said the party wants to maintain good relations between the Centre and Andhra Pradesh and will continue to extend support to the BJP in Rajya Sabha. Now, with PM Modi pitching for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), ideological commitment of the BJP, YSRCP's support would be crucial if the government intends to pass it in Parliament in the near future.
