Manipur’s Shirui village bans animal hunting
Shirui village in Tangkhul-Naga dominated Ukhrul district have put a ban on killing and hunting of animal and birds there for three years. This came at a time when forest officials and villagers of Tamenglong district have stepped up to protect Amur falcons, their winged guests. About 93 km from Imphal, Shirui, one of the key tourist spots of the state, is famous for its beautiful and rare Shirui lily, which is grown only in Shirui mountain peaks. Britisher Frank Kingdon Ward had in 1948 discovered Shirui Lily (Lilium mackliniae). The beautiful flower blooms in the month of May and June, and in 1989 the state government had declared Shirui Lily as the state flower. Shirui village authorities besides prohibiting killing of animals and birds within the village’s jurisdiction, have also put a total ban on using air guns and fire arms to promote conservation and bio-diversity of the area for three years with effect from October, said a letter submitted to divisional forest officer (Ukhrul) recently. For proper and effective implementation of bio-diversity conservation, the village heads also requested the forest officer to issue a drone to them, said the letter. Chief minister N Biren Singh, who chaired a cabinet meeting in Ukhurl last month, lauded the initiatives taken up by the Shirui village to conserve biodiversity and protection of wildlife there. On Sunday, Biren took to Facebook and said “For the first time in Manipur, the people of Shirui village have decided to completely ban the hunting and killing of animals and birds within their jurisdiction.

China took part in leaders' AI meeting even though UK did not acknowledge
China said it attended a top-level ministerial meeting at the UK AI Safety Summit on Thursday, despite not being listed by Britain among the «like-minded» participants and not featuring in official handshakes or the family photograph. China's absence sparked questions because it participated in the first day of the two-day summit on the safety of «frontier» artificial intelligence, and Britain declined to say why Beijing was not among those joining the second day's senior meeting.

Netflix movies: Black Adam to Wonder Woman - full list of DC films to be streamed
Netflix will soon be streaming DC movies. These DC extended films were released in the past decade and some of them are extremely popular. There will be a total of more than 12 DC movies which will be available on Netflix in December, as per a report in WhatsOnNetflix. However, these DC movies will be available for Netflix US subscribers from December 1. Netflix US had earlier tweeted, «Take a journey through the DC Extended Universe when these films hit Netflix on December 1.» These Netflix movies are — Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Wonder Woman: 1984, and The Suicide Squad, Shazam!, The Batman, DC League of Super-Pets, and Black Adam. However, as per a report in WhatsOnNetflix, some important DC extended universe films are not in Netflix US library. These are Aquaman, Joker, Justice League, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle. Earlier this week, Netflix said its ad-supported tier had reached 15 million active users per month, a year after the streaming giant launched the cheaper plan to revive subscriber growth and revenue following a slowdown. The company had five million monthly ad-tier users in May and has been hiking prices on its ad-free options in an effort to nudge more subscribers to the other tier, where commercials help bring in more revenue per user. Netflix increased subscription prices for some streaming plans in the United States, Britain and France last month, after its third-quarter subscriber additions of 9 million shattered Wall Street expectations of 6 million.
