Trudeau has wrecked Canada-India political relations, says expelled envoy
Trudeau had wrecked bilateral political ties. Both countries on Monday ordered out six diplomats in tit-for-tat moves over Ottawa's allegations that New Delhi was targeting Indian dissidents on Canadian soil. Trudeau specifically tied the six to the murder of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year in British Columbia. Sanjay Kumar Verma, India's envoy to Canada, told CTV that Trudeau had been relying on intelligence rather than evidence.

Russia believes India, Brazil and African countries should be represented in UNSC: Sergey Lavrov
Russia's top diplomat has said that his country believes that India, Brazil and African countries should be represented in the UN Security Council on a permanent basis to ensure the representativeness of the global majority, state-owned TASS news agency reported on Sunday. «Countries such as India, Brazil, as well as representatives of Africa should have been on a permanent basis in the Security Council for a long time. This is necessary to ensure representativeness, representation of the global majority,» Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told aif.ru. in an interview, TASS reported. India has been at the forefront of years-long efforts calling for reform of the Security Council, including expansion in both its permanent and non-permanent categories, saying the 15-nation Council, founded in 1945, is not fit for purpose in the 21st Century and does not reflect contemporary geo-political realities. Delhi has underscored that it deserves a permanent seat at the horse-shoe table. Last month, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron in backing India's bid for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

CNG price may go up Rs 4-6 on input supply cut, excise duty cut to ease situation
natural gas to city retailers — a move that may result in Rs 4-6 per kg hike in the price of CNG sold to automobiles, unless excise duty on the fuel is cut, sources said. Natural gas pumped from below the ground and from under the seabed from sites ranging from the Arabian Sea to Bay of Bengal within India is the raw material that is turned into CNG for sale to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households. Production from legacy fields, whose price is regulated by the government and which are used to feed city gas retailers, has been falling by up to 5 per cent annually due to natural decline that has set in. This has led to supply cuts to city gas retailers, four sources in know of the matter said. While the input gas for piped cooking gas that households get is protected, the government has cut supply of raw material for CNG. Gas from legacy fields used to meet 90 per cent of the demand for CNG in May 2023 and has progressively fallen. The supply was cut to just 50.75 per cent of the CNG demand beginning October 16 from 67.74 per cent last month, they said.

UK's Starmer tells Netanyahu 'alarmed' by drone attack near residence
Keir Starmer told Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu that he was «alarmed to hear about the drone launched towards» his residence earlier Saturday, the UK leader's office said. Netanyahu has accused Iran-backed Hezbollah of trying to assassinate him, after his office said a drone was launched Saturday toward his residence in the central town of Caesarea while he and his wife were elsewhere. Iran's United Nations mission later said that Lebanon's Hezbollah group — armed and financed by Tehran — was behind the drone attack, which Netanyahu's office has noted caused no injuries.

Karwa Chauth 2024 Images: Send your wife these stunning Karwa Chauth images and wishes in English to celebrate the day
Karwa Chauth on October 20, a festival celebrated on the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha in the Kartik month, which overlaps with October and November in the Gregorian calendar. This tradition is prevalent mainly in northern India. On Karwa Chauth, married Hindu women wake up early to consume sargi before sunrise. They then fast from sunrise until the moon appears in the evening. The fast is broken only after sighting the moon and performing the ritual of offering arghya. The festival emphasizes family life, with women praying for the long life of their husbands. There are various stories associated with Karwa Chauth, the most popular one being the tale of Veervati. Veervati, who had seven caring brothers, observed Karwa Chauth for her husband after marriage. Her brothers, unable to see her fasting all day, deceived her into thinking that the moon had risen. Upon breaking her fast prematurely, she received news of her husband's death.
