Chakri Lokapriya, Managing Partner, RSB LLP, says among T&D companies, Skipper is one of the largest companies globally and in India, they are present not just in manufacturing but also in EPC. The stock has valuations on its side. Demand has been weak for the last two years for well-known reasons. Now the cycle is picking up; Second is JTL Infra, again a bet on the manufacturing theme. They are doing capacity expansion to meet demand and valuations are on its side. These are the bets largely revolving around manufacturing and capex themes.” There are two moving parts, especially when it comes to the commodity construct. A) The rip-roaring ride that we are seeing in metals and B) the uptick in crude that the market is sort of ignoring. What do you make of the move in metals so far? Chakri Lokapriya: If you look at what is happening in metals both domestically and globally, the US data has come out stronger than expected.

UPS Gap WhatsApp show China pips India in buying sea-borne Russian crude
China to lap up the commodity at deeply discounted prices. China imported 1.82 million barrels a day (mb/d) of Russian crude by sea in March, a third more than India's 1.36 mb/d, according to energy cargo tracker Vortexa. China also receives Russian oil through pipelines.India's monthly imports of seaborne Russian crude exceeded that of China for about one and a half years. In February, however, China's 1.3 mb/d of imports from Russia, marginally surpassed India's 1.27 mb/d. In March, the gap substantially widened. «Russian Sokol cargoes, which were previously rejected by Indian refiners due to concerns of the cargoes being loaded on sanctioned vessels, were sold at heavy discounts to Chinese refiners, which explains the sharp rise in volumes into China,» said Serena Huang, an analyst at Vortexa.

UPS BLOCK Manufacturing Strategy reports evacuation Chip off the old Taiwanese block
earthquake off Taiwan's east coast on Wednesday is unfortunate. It is also an unfortunate reminder of the risk of concentrating an overwhelming proportion of the world's most advanced chip-making capacity in one territory. Taiwan's semiconductor fabrication units are located at some distance from the epicentre of the earthquake and evacuated staff in response to disaster protocols. Initial reports suggest there is unlikely to be an immediate impact on supply chains feeding all manner of things from cars and cellphones to laptops and satellites. However, chip-making is particularly susceptible to vibration, and Taiwan lies in a zone of heightened seismic activity that also poses a risk to its principal source of power: nuclear energy. Chipmakers have accelerated plans to diversify beyond Taiwan after the Covid outbreak snarled up supply lines. There is also simmering tension with China that reinforces the need for resilient supply of a critical component in global manufacturing.

UPS Apple Software NVIDIA DELL NOT It’s hardware — not software — that is again emerging as the dominant species in the AI age
Software Is Eating the World'. He convincingly argued that software-led companies like Apple, Amazon and Netflix were 'eating' brick-and-mortar companies, such as Blockbuster, Borders and Walmart, to become global category leaders. Andreessen's predictions did bear out, with software behemoths like Alphabet, Microsoft and Meta becoming the world's largest companies. As the age of IT and software gives way to AI, there are declarations of how AI is eating software. It seems that new emerging titans like OpenAI and their LLMs — which are built on colossal amounts of data and powered by new kinds of software algorithms called transformers — are taking over. However, it's actually hardware that is again emerging as the dominant species in the AI age. Nvidia, US-based MNC and maker of GPUs (graphics processing units), the hardware that powers most generative AI software, was at a $300 bn valuation in the pre-ChatGPT era in Nov 2022. It is $2.3 tn today, a nearly eight-fold jump.
