Chandrayaan-3 rover is trying to find answers to with its scientific instruments. Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) onboard the rover, was deployed to observe the lunar sample, ISRO announced on Thursday. Later in the day it also announced that the first measurements of the lunar plasma environment over the South Pole region have been carried out. APXS instrument is best suited for in-situ analysis of the elemental composition of soil and rocks on the surface of planetary bodies having little atmosphere, such as the Moon. It carries radioactive sources that emit alpha particles and X-rays onto the surface sample.

On the Comex, Gold futures were trading at $1,972.70 per troy ounce on Thursday, down by $0.30 or 0.02% while Silver futures were trading at $24.985, lower by $0.119 or 0.470%. The DXY was trading flat at 103.03 against a basket of six top currencies, though the bias was negative. The October Gold futures had ended with gains of Rs 200 or 0.34% per 10 gram at Rs 59,466 while the December Silver futures closed higher at Rs 76,222, down by Rs 218 per kg or 0.29%. «Gold's value has stayed high for three weeks because the latest US economic data indicates slower growth. This led traders to reduce their expectations of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates next month.

theme parks KidZania, is planning to spend $50 million over the next 5-10 years to launch five new theme parks in cities like Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai, a top company official said. The company currently operates two KidZania branded theme parks in Mumbai and Delhi spread across 70,000 sq ft and 95,000 sq ft, respectively. The two centres used to draw an annual footfall of 400,000 persons prior to the pandemic, which has dropped to 300,000 post the pandemic. «We are expecting about $50 million of investment to launch the five new centres,» said Paras Chandaria, founder and promoter, KidZania India, adding that the company is open to working with strategic partners to realise its ambitious expansion plans in the country.Chandaria's Kidz Inc Pte owns a 74% stake in Imagination Edutainment while Khan holds the remaining 26%.

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is planning to provide air quality early warning through the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) to 92 more polluted cities in the next two years. SAFAR, developed by Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorological (IITM) Pune and was operationalized by IMD in 2010 during Commonwealth Games, is India’s first metro air quality service. It currently issues 1-3 days advance forecast in 40 cities including Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad of a total of 132 ‘air contaminated’ cities.
