IPL 2025 auction: From Rishabh Pant to R Ashwin; 10 players CSK may chase for their best playing XI
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the joint-most successful IPL franchise, retained five players, including captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, before the mega auction. They also kept MS Dhoni as an uncapped player, due to a rule change that allows Indian players who haven't played internationally in the past five years to be considered uncapped. Other retained players are Matheesha Pathirana, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shivam Dube. CSK is now left with one Right-To-Match card, which it can use either on an uncapped or a capped player. eVTOL player ePlane raises $14 million, anticipates parallel aviation industry & new jobs
ePlane Company, incubated at IIT-Madras and aiming to become one of the main players in India’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) mobility sector, on Friday announced the closure of a $14 million funding round. With this funding, ePlane is poised to become the largest-funded eVTOL player in India, the company said in a statement. Founder of the startup and IIT-Madras aerospace engineering professor Satya Chakravarthy told ET that the government's support and announcement of certification standards have helped strengthen investor confidence. “Among the new investors, we can clearly see that their conviction about air taxis is much stronger compared to their interest in just commercialising drones,” he said. The Series B round was co-led by Speciale Invest and Antares Ventures, with continued participation from Micelio Mobility, Naval Ravikant, Java Capital, Samarthya Investment Advisors, Redstart (from Naukri), and Anicut.

On August 2, NCLAT’s Chennai bench approved Byju’s founders’ settlement of the Rs 158 crore payment owed to BCCI, helping the edtech company avoid bankruptcy. The matter will be heard on November 18.

Palaniswami crawled like cockroach for the sake of power: Tamil Nadu CM Stalin slams AIADMK chief
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday slammed leader of opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami wondering whether welfare schemes could be named after him alleging he crawled like a cockroach for the sake of office. Referring to Palaniswami's allegation that fund allocation was being made by the government for schemes named after late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi that are not useful for the people, Stalin said the AIADMK chief's remark was a bundle of lies. Listing out a string of schemes including the Kalaignar centenary library, Kalaignar jallikattu arena, a hospital in Chennai and the Rs 1,000 financial assistance scheme for women, all of which features the late DMK chief Karunanidhi's name, Stalin demanded to know which of such initiatives were not useful for the people. The CM said such remarks of Palaniswami smacked of arrogance and for this aspect alone, people of Tamil Nadu will defeat the AIADMK and that was sure.
