Cyclone Fengal Tracker Live: Cyclone Fengal is expected to make landfall on the coast of Tamil Nadu today evening and the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for various parts of the southern states in view of incessant rainfall.The IMD stated that the cyclonic storm Fengal, located over the southwest Bay of Bengal, moved north-northwestward at a speed of 7 km/h during the past six hours. As of 11:30 PM IST on November 29, it was centered over the same region near latitude 11.8°N and longitude 81.7°E, about 360 km north of Trincomalee, 230 km east-northeast of Nagapattinam, 210 km east of Puducherry, and 210 km southeast of Chennai.The cyclone is likely to continue moving west-northwestward and cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram, near Puducherry, as a cyclonic storm with wind speeds of 70-80 km/h, gusting to 90 km/h, during the afternoon of November 30.As per IMD Head of Cyclonic Division, Ananda Das a red alert has been issued in view of heavy to extremely heavy rainfalls in several parts of Tamil Nadu, South Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and interior Karnataka.He further said that the coastal districts of North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh will receive heavy rainfall, adding that on November 30, there will be heavy rainfall in the interior area of Tamil Nadu.Cyclone Fengal Tracker Live: Currently, a total of 471 people from 164 families have been sheltered in six relief centers across the Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts.

Dixon Technologies Friday said it has entered into an agreement with Taiwanese original design maker Compal Electronics to make Google Pixel devices in India, as the US major strives to gain a foothold in the world’s second largest smartphone market. Dixon becomes the second contract manufacturer for Google who had started making Pixel phones locally with Foxconn subsidiary Wow Tech at their Chennai facility. “This is a significant opportunity for Dixon and marks an exciting step in our growth and commitment to delivering cutting edge, high quality products to the global and domestic market,” Atul B. Lall, Vice Chairman of Dixon Technologies said in a notice to the stock exchanges.

DRA has set an ambitious target to double its revenue to Rs 1,000 crore by FY26-27, driven by new project launches and geographical expansions. The company expects to achieve Rs 500 crore in revenue in FY24-25, up from Rs 300 crore in FY23-24. To fuel this growth, DRA plans to enter the Pune market and expand further in Bengaluru by the next fiscal year. Seven teams from the 4th Battalion of the NDRF, including two canine units (30 rescuers per team), have been mobilised in anticipation of heavy to very heavy rainfall predicted by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from 26 to 28 November.According to the NDRF, the teams will be deployed in Karaikal, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai districts.The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, on Tuesday said that the depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal has now intensified into a deep depression and that it is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm on Wednesday.Chennai city and suburbs have been experiencing widespread rains since Tuesday morning.

An orange alert is in place for districts like Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Puducherry, with fishermen advised to avoid venturing into the sea until 28 November.

Shaktikanta Das, who was hospitalised at a private hospital in Chennai last night following acidity-related complaints, was discharged on Tuesday. Das is doing fine and has been discharged from the hospital, said an RBI spokesperson. The RBI Governor experienced acidity-related issues on Monday night and was admitted to hospital for observation,' Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, said in a health bulletin issued earlier in the day. There was no cause for concern, the bulletin added.
