'The answer is no': Pro-Palestinian delegates say their request for a speaker at DNC was shut down
Chicago: Leaders of an «Uncommitted» movement, which garnered hundreds of thousands of votes in Democratic primaries across the nation in protest of the Israel-Hamas war, have been negotiating for weeks to secure a speaking slot for a Palestinian American at the Democratic National Convention this week. The negotiations stalled late Wednesday when leaders with the Uncommitted National Movement say a Democratic National Committee official called and delivered a firm response: «The answer is no.» The leader, Abbas Alawieh, an «Uncommitted» delegate to the convention and co-founder of the movement, described the call as shocking after weeks of talks that he felt were positive. In response, he and other delegates decided to stage a sit-in outside Chicago's United Center, where the convention is being held. They spent the night on the sidewalk on Wednesday, and vowed to remain until their request was granted or the convention ended Thursday night. «When we ran out of options — doing everything we can and working from the inside, when we ran out of options as uncommitted delegates, we just sat down,» Alawieh said in an interview Thursday.

First lady Jill Biden's shoes grab headlines at the DNC; here's what she wore
Jill Biden at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago garnered attention for her footwear selection. Biden arrived at the conference on Monday wearing a stunning pair of pointed footwear that soon became the center of attention, as per the reports of Yahoo entertainment. Ralph Lauren's sparkling blue minidress, which Jill Biden wore with a statement pair of silver shoes, was the talk of the occasion. The sharp, triangular shape of these pumps stood out against the blue color of her dress, highlighting her entire look. The heels are believed to be the Jimmy Choo Romy 85 Glitter Pumps, though this has not been formally confirmed. They are estimated to be between three and four inches tall. The coarse glitter fabric and leather construction of these shoes, which retail for about $825, give her entire ensemble a more sophisticated touch.

Meet Pandit Rakesh Bhatt, the Hindu priest who opened Democratic meet with 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam': Watch viral video
Democratic National Convention's third day began with a unique spiritual dimension as Pandit Rakesh Bhatt, a renowned Hindu priest, led the session with a traditional Vedic prayer. The event, held at the United Center in Chicago, was a significant occasion for rallying support behind Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Pandit Bhatt’s prayer invoked the ancient Indian concept of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,' which translates to 'the whole world is one family.' Bhatt opened with a prayer that resonated across the hall, chanting verses in Sanskrit before translating them into English for the diverse audience. “Even if we have differences, when it comes to the nation, we have to be united,” Bhatt stated. “Let our minds think together. Let our hearts beat as one. All for the betterment of society. May this make us powerful so we can unite and make our nation proud.”

DNC Day 3: Kamala Harris' running mate Tim Walz, Nancy Pelosi, Bill Clinton to be key speakers
Tim Walz accepts the Democratic nomination for vice president on Wednesday with 11 weeks to go before he and presidential running mate Kamala Harris face Republican former President Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. election. Walz, 60, a military veteran, former high school teacher and football coach, will talk about growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his family and freedoms that Democrats say are under attack from Trump, making his third run for the White House. Walz has brought a folksy charm to the campaign trail, describing himself and Harris as «joyful warriors» focused on a brighter future, in contrast to Republicans who they say are stoking fear and division.

Did Kamala Harris snub the Obamas at DNC 2024? She left for Milwaukee before their speeches
Kamala Harris unexpectedly departed for Milwaukee. The move, seen by some as a deliberate snub, raised eyebrows, especially given the Obamas’ delayed endorsement of Harris. Instead of attending the Obamas' speeches, Harris opted to address a nearly full arena in Milwaukee and hold a DNC watch party with her rally attendees, as per the reports of the New York Post. In Milwaukee, Democratic organizer Jaliah Jefferson informed the crowd at Fiserv Forum that they would be featured live as part of the DNC broadcast. Jefferson encouraged the audience to bring energy, emphasizing that the nation needed to see Wisconsin standing behind Harris. The enthusiastic crowd, energized by DJ Shawna, responded eagerly, especially those from Illinois who cheered loudly when acknowledged.

Did Michelle Obama snub Joe Biden at the DNC 2024? Here's all you need to know
Michelle Obama, gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, just one night after the president gave an emotional and passionate farewell speech. Almost as a way to make things worse, she kept complimenting her husband's 2008 campaign without bringing up Joe Biden. Michelle says there is an incredibly magical vibe in the air. According to a New York Post report, the 60-year-old Chicago native continued to express her gratitude for her husband, referring to his catchphrase from his popular campaign. In the period leading to Biden’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race, Michelle, who fared relatively better against Trump in polls than Harris and any other contender from the Democratic party, insisted that the vice president is capable of stepping into Biden’s shoes on the Democratic ticket. She proudly announced that the woman who could take responsibility of this moment is Kamala Harris and that she is among the most qualified persons to be the president. The former first lady criticized Trump’s barbs towards the vice president-elect, describing them as petty and regressive, and said that Trump was being petty in his swings. She shouted at voters who are ready to vote for a woman and who are ready to bully, and she appealed to Democrats’ action over the attacks on Harris. Dr Biden & Mr Joe, a transformatory tale
Chicago Monday evening — a warmer Tuesday afternoon across India that seems to be always ahead of America — an elderly gentleman, confident on the stage, came across a veritable hero before his rousing, cheering audience. In theory, he was the same person who, in late June at the first presidential debate with Donald Trump, looked confused, lost and old. In practice, though, Joe Biden at the Democratic National Convention, almost two months older now, was a changed man as he took the adulation from the very same lot who had — for legitimate reasons — given him the shove from a re-election bid.
