Petrol pump owners across Delhi have issued a warning to shut down Pollution Under Control (PUC) certification centres starting July 1, citing unaddressed financial challenges. Despite persistent appeals since 2015, the fees for issuing PUC certificates have remained unchanged for over 12 years, rendering operations unsustainable, according to the Delhi Petrol Traders’ Association (DPDA), a TOI report stated. In a letter addressed to Delhi’s transport commissioner, DPDA expressed their longstanding concerns, stating, «PUC certification centres earlier operated on wafer thin margins for many years and have for the last few years operated on losses...While the spiralling costs and other expenses, which have jumped several fold, have been brought to your notice several times in the past, non-revision of PUC checking rates and the consequent unviability is forcing us to close our centres across Delhi from July 1.» Currently, Delhi hosts nearly 650 PUC centres, situated at various petrol and diesel stations throughout the city. Customers are charged Rs 60 for two-wheelers, Rs 80 for petrol cars, and Rs 100 for diesel vehicles (excluding 18% GST) for PUC checks. «The last time the rates were revised was in Dec 2011. In the last 12 years, the minimum wages of a skilled worker have gone up by nearly three times, the oil companies have started charging exorbitant rents for these centres and the overhead charges such as maintenance of the equipment have also increased,» DPDA President Nischal Singhania told TOI.

Delhi High Court on Saturday ordered to take down all videos or audios of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal address to the court from all social media platforms. A division bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna and Amit Sharma issued the order against several people for allegedly violating video conferencing rules. The order came after a public-interest litigation was filed before the court, TOI reported.

Haryana to discharge additional water into the Yamuna on humanitarian grounds, senior AAP leader and minister Atishi said on Saturday. Delhi's water minister also told a press conference here that the capital is facing a shortage of 70 million gallons per day (MGD) in production due to lack of raw water in the Munak canal and Wazirabad reservoir. The normal water production of around 1,002 MGD in Delhi went down to 932 MGD on Friday because of lack of raw water, she said. «The Delhi government has appealed to Haryana to release additional water for the people of the city on humanitarian grounds,» the minister said and added that issues related to share of Yamuna water can be discussed after heatwave conditions abate.

AAP MLAs have written a letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil urging his intervention to solve the water crisis faced by the national capital amid the prevailing intense heatwave. Calling the situation «very critical», AAP's chief whip in Delhi Assembly Dilip Pandey on Saturday said the Yamuna water issue was an inter-state issue that required coordination of the Jal Shakti Ministry. Pandey said that in the letter from the AAP MLAs, time has been sought to meet the minister for a discussion on the matter. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the State Bank of India (SBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday to enhance digital payment services for users of the eMigrate portal. The agreement was signed by Joint Secretary OE and PGE (Overseas Employment and Protector General of Emigrants) Bramha Kumar, on behalf of the Ministry, and Neelesh Dwivedi, General Manager (NW-I) from SBI, at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in Delhi. A bench of justices Neena Bansal Krishna and Amit Sharma issued notices to six people, including Sunita Kejriwal, and social media intermediaries X, Meta and Youtube on a petition alleging violation of video conferencing rules of the Delhi High Court. Delhi High Court has dismissed audio entertainment platform Pocket FM's plea seeking an interim injunction against Disney+ Hotstar's Telugu video web series 'Yakshini' over alleged copyright violations. Pocket FM had moved the court contending that Disney+ Hotstar's video series had many similarities with its audio series by the same name. The audio platform also claimed that it had given its audio series ‘Yakshini’ to Disney+ Hotstar for adaptation into a video series. While dismissing Pocket FM's application, the vacation bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna said an interim injunction cannot be granted at this stage since no concrete facts have been established to prove that there is a copyright violation of expression of idea.

Prashant Kishor on Friday charged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with having «touched the feet» of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure his own continuance in power. Kishor, who has been running the 'Jan Suraaj' campaign, was addressing a public meeting in Bhagalpur. «People ask me why I am now criticising Nitish Kumar, having worked with him in the past. He was a different man back then. His conscience had not been put up for sale,» said Kishor, who had managed the JD(U) president's election campaign in 2015 and formally joined the party two years later. «The leader of a state is the pride of its people. But Nitish Kumar brought shame to Bihar when he touched the feet of Modi,» he alleged, referring to the NDA meeting in Delhi last week.

It was alleged that Roy, while delivering a speech at the conference, strongly propagated that Kashmir was never a part of India and was forcibly occupied by the Armed Forces of India. The FIR against Roy and Hussain was filed following orders from the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate, New Delhi. «Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena has sanctioned the prosecution of Arundhati Roy and former Professor of International Law in Central University of Kashmir, Dr. Sheikh Showkat Hussain, under section 45 (1) of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the case,» a Raj Niwas official said.

Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar in the case against him for allegedly assaulting AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. Earlier on June 7, a trial court in Tis Hazari had refused to grant him bail, saying he was facing «grave and serious» charges and that there was an apprehension that he could influence witnesses. In his plea before the high court, Kumar said the trial court failed to consider the fact that his further custody was not required as all evidence has been collected by the investigating officer and statements of witnesses have also been recorded.

Delhi's Chandni Chowk area. Flames were still simmering under some collapsed portions of buildings and a cooling operation is underway, officials said on Friday. The fire broke out in Chandni Chowk's Old Katra Marwadi Market around 5 pm on Thursday. There were no casualties. Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief Atul Garg said the fire was brought under control at 4.30 am.

Delhi experienced its fifth consecutive day of heatwaves on Thursday and IMD predicted that this trend will continue for the next five days, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius. There is, however, a chance of thunderstorms, lightning, and light rain at isolated locations on Friday afternoon or evening. The maximum temperature on Thursday recorded at the Safdarjung Observatory, considered the official marker of the city, was 4.9 notches above normal at 44.8 degrees Celsius. The Najafgarh weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 45.1 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
