Justin Trudeau has created a problem not merely for Canada and India but also for his key allies
Justin Trudeau had to swelter in Delhi till last Tuesday because his plane failed him. Coming after an unusually public dressing down by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his outburst on Tuesday accusing India of killing Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar sealed his now-dead relationship with India. Canada is where wokeness and brightly patterned socks find their illogical home. Which would have been idyllic if their political parties were not so welcoming of bad guys of many stripes.

A passport to everywhere
high net worth individual (HNI ), a fluid way of life — the freedom to move unfettered worldwide — is the ultimate luxury. It’s the final step to becoming a successful global citizen. Kristin Surak, associate professor of Political Sociology at the London School of Economics, UK, and author of 'The Golden Passport: Global Mobility for Millionaires', says that India has one of the lowest ranks when it comes to visa-free access, so travel for Indian citizens can be incredibly challenging. “And it’s not just entering, even transiting through countries can be a challenge,” she says, recounting how a colleague had to pay an extra 1,000 pounds to fly from Delhi to London because he couldn’t transit through certain countries using only his Indian passport. “An extra thousand pounds multiplied by 100 times — that is the cost of a foreign citizenship.”

Jio AirFiber could be $4 billion-$9 billion in annual revenue opportunity for Reliance: Analysts
Jio AirFiber – could create a whopping $4 billion to $9 billion annual revenue opportunity if it sees wide acceptance of around 50-to-100 million homes, say analysts. They added that the current pricing of Jio AirFiber is not disruptive versus competition as rival Bharti Airtel’s comparable 100 Mbps 5G-FWA offering is at a 12% discount, albeit without digital channels and OTT apps. While Airtel’s FWA service is at a 33% premium to Jio AirFiber’s base plan of Rs 599 a month, it offers faster speeds of 100 Mbps compared to 30 Mbps on Jio’s. “Jio has ambitious plans with Jio AirFiber, with a target of 200 million homes…if there is wide acceptance of 5G FWA with bundled home entertainment services, it could be a significant revenue opportunity, especially as (home) broadband average revenue per user (ARPU) at Rs 600, is 3-4x higher vs mobile,” brokerage CLSA said in a note. A 5G-based FWA service uses airwaves instead of cables/fibre to provide fixed broadband access, using a next-gen mobile broadband technology.

BJP Mahila Morcha's Delhi unit thanks PM for introducing Women's Reservation Bill
BJP Mahila Morcha's Delhi unit on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and parliamentarians for introducing the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. Mahila Morcha leaders and workers gathered near Rail Bhawan and 15 other places in the Parliament building's vicinity and expressed their gratitude for fulfilling a long-pending demand of the country's women, said Richa Pandey, the organisation's Delhi unit chief. «We thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a dignified introduction of the bill in the Lok Sabha that faced hurdles for so many years,» Pandey added. The government on Tuesday introduced the Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam, reserving 33 per cent seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, reviving a bill pending for 27 years and blending history, politics and societal imperatives on the first day in the new Parliament building. However, provisions in the bill make it clear that the reservation will come into effect only after the delimitation exercise, or the redrawing of constituencies, taking into account data of the census conducted after it becomes a law.

GSTN enables geocoding of GST address for all states and UTs
goods and services tax network (GSTN), the technology support for goods and services tax (GST), has enabled geocoding for businesses across all states and union territories, a move which will make it easier to eliminate fake registration or to locate a tax evader. «GSTN is pleased to inform that the geocoding functionality for the „Additional Place of Business“ address is now active across all States and Union Territories,» GSTN said in an advisory issued on Wednesday. Launched in February this functionality was running on a pilot basis in Delhi and Haryana. This technology enables tax agencies to accurately identify the geographical coordinates of properties, businesses, and taxpayers and will help them identify the exact location of the taxpayers addresses. Also this will allow the determination of the exact location of registered entities and will ensure address details in GSTN records are streamlined leaving less scope for fake GST address and registration. Heat maps and spatial analysis tools can reveal clusters of tax irregularities, helping enforcement agencies allocate their resources more effectively «Geocoding functionality plays a crucial role in apprehending tax cheats by providing tax authorities with precise location data,» Rajat Mohan, Senior Partner, AMRG and Associates said. «By leveraging geocoding, tax authorities can enhance their auditing and enforcement efforts, ultimately contributing to fairer and more efficient tax collection processes,» Mohan added. So far GST Network has geocoded 2.05 crore addresses of registered businesses to verify genuine registrations and provide accurate data in GSTN records.
