Govt raises onion buffer to 5 lk MT; NCCF to retail onions at Rs 25/kg
Consumer affairs department has also directed National Cooperative Consumers' Federation (NCCF) and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.(NAFED) to procure around one lakh metric tonne of onions to further achieve the additional procurement target. Alongside procurement the said bodies will retail onions at Rs 25 per kg through outlets and mobile vans of NCCF from August 21 2023. «Retail sale of onion will be suitably enhanced in coming days by involving other agencies and e-commerce platforms,» the government said in a release.

Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED), will start selling tomatoes at a reduced rate of ₹40 per kilogram from today (20 August). Since last month, cooperatives NCCF and NAFED have been selling tomatoes at a discounted rate on behalf of the government to contain the price rise. To date, over 15 lakh kilogram of tomatoes have been procured by the two agencies and are being sold to retail consumers in major consumption centres in the country, including Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan (Jaipur, Kota), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj) and Bihar (Patna, Muzaffarpur, Arrah, Buxar).

BOI) has issued a look out circular (LoC) against a Hungarian national and head of a crypto-ponzi firm who is allegedly involved in deceiving investors of their money, the EOW said on Saturday. The firm, STA Token is accused of operating a ponzi business and collecting around Rs 1,000 crore deposits from two lakh people across the country without any authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India, it said. The LoC was issued at the request of Odisha's Economic Offence Wing (EOW), which has been probing the alleged scandal, it said.
