Housing sales across India’s top 7 cities expected to witness double digit growth in FY25
residential sales across India’s top seven cities are expected to witness double digit growth in 2024-25. The area sold in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), National Capital Region (NCR), Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai is likely to increase 10-12% to 785-800 million sq ft in the current financial year, on a high base of 2023-24, said ratings agency ICRA. Proposed amendments to Wakf Act in line with BJP's politics of polarisation: Tejashwi Yadav
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday alleged that the proposed amendments to the Wakf Act were in line with the BJP's politics of «polarisation» along religious lines. The former Bihar deputy chief minister, who is now the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, also questioned the Centre's reluctance to place in Constitution's ninth schedule the legislations, struck down by the Patna High Court, by which quotas for deprived castes had been hiked in the state. «The Union government seems to have no interest in working for the poor. This is a reflection on the ruling BJP at the Centre, which believes in the politics ofte polarisation,» Yadav told reporters. He was responding to queries about proposed amendments to the Wakf Act, which have met with stiff opposition from parties like Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM, and drawn flak from constituents of the INDIA bloc.

Bangalore remains frontrunner in GCC office leasing, followed by Hyderabad Chennai
Bengaluru: Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India have leased approximately 53 million square feet of office space in key Indian cities between 2022 and the first half of 2024, such as a highly skilled workforce, cost advantages, and favourable business conditions, according to CBRE and Zyoin's latest report. This growth is expected to continue, especially in India's top six metropolitan areas like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai, due to factors which boast exceptional talent pools that are conducive to expansion and future development. In the first half of 2024, office leasing activity in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region across six significant cities increased 8% year-on-year. During the same period, GCCs contributed to around 37% of India's total office leasing activity.

'Modi govt wants to take away autonomy of board': Asaduddin Owaisi on reports of proposed amendments in Waqf Board Act
Centre is planning to amend the Waqf Board Act, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi said on Sunday that it shows that the Modi government wants to snatch away the autonomy of the board and intends to interfere in it. Addressing a conference, Owaisi said, «Firstly, when Parliament is in session, the central government is acting against parliamentary supremacy and privileges and informing the media and not informing Parliament. I can say that whatever has been written in the media about this proposed amendment shows that the Modi government wants to take away the autonomy of the Waqf Board and it wants to interfere. This itself is against the freedom of religion.» The Hyderabad MP also alleged that the BJP has been against these boards and Waqf properties from the very beginning and they have been working on a «Hindutva agenda».

Removing indexation on real estate will benefit almost nobody. Here's proof.
Selling property: Will your taxes skyrocket by 1,000% post Budget announcement? To quantify the impact, we analysed the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of real estate prices, the holding period, and the cost inflation index. Our calculations show that the effective tax rate under the new regime is only lower if the real estate’s CAGR significantly exceeds historical averages. For a 20-year holding period with a cost inflation rate of 5.5% a year, the CAGR must be above 9.48% for the new tax structure to be advantageous.

Men’s mental health: Why it’s time to reimagine ideas of masculinity
not be a man and just express their fears, and occasionally, cry, whether at work or at home — sadly, often even with their male peers and friends — adds to the difficulty," says Anoop Rao, founder of ReLife, a leadership coaching and consulting service in Hyderabad. “I’ve seen many cases where even after being diagnosed with a mental health condition, the person has refused to work on it owing to the fear of judgement," says Kalpesh More, a facilitator and farmer who had initiated Biraadari, an online men’s circle during covid-19. Also, when it comes to men, some common mental health conditions are normalised, notes More.
