Uttar Pradesh floods: CM Yogi Adityanath reviews situation in 11 affected districts
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday reviewed the flood situation in the state’s 11 districts due to the water released from the mountains and bad weather conditions in the last three days. CM Yogi has directed all the officials concerned of the eleven districts- Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ballia, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Kanpur Nagar, GB Nagar, Sitapur, Hardoi and Shahjahanpur, to ensure proper relief works. Senior officers have been asked to tour the flood-affected areas and keep a close eye on the ongoing relief works. Teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in all the eleven districts. CM Yogi has directed officials to assess the damage done to the crops and subsequently, submit a report to the state government. According to a release, the government wants to provide compensation money to the farmers at the earliest possible. He has also directed the officials to give financial help to people whose houses have been damaged or who have lost their animals. Meanwhile, Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami said the relief operations are going on war footing in all the flood-affected 11 districts. According to him, five villages of Kushinagar districts are affected due to the flood in Gandak river. The government has set up 16-flood-shelters there. The total number of pre-positioned boats is 42 while one team of NDRF and one team of SDRF is deployed in the area. NDRF team rescued ten persons who were trapped in flood

Elaborate security for India-Bangladesh 2nd Test as teams arrive in Kanpur
Kanpur (UP): Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the India-Bangladesh second Test match to be played at the International Green Park stadium here scheduled from September 27, a senior official said on Tuesday. An FIR was filed against 20 members of the Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha on Monday for allegedly organising a 'havan' by obstructing the road before the stadium to protest against atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chander said. Meanwhile, the players of both the teams arrived here and were escorted to the hotel from Chakeri airport amidst tight security, he said. The teams will hold their practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday at the Green Park stadium, which is approximately 1,500 metres from the hotel, he added.

Rs 2000 notes: 97.96% returned; Rs 7,261 cr worth notes still with public
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday said 97.96 per cent of the Rs 2000 denomination banknotes have returned to the banking system, and only Rs 7,261 crore worth of the withdrawn notes are still with the public. On May 19, 2023, the RBI announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 denomination banknotes from circulation. The total value of Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation, which was Rs 3.56 lakh crore at the close of business on May 19, 2023, when the withdrawal of Rs 2000 banknotes was announced, has declined to Rs 7,261 crore at the close of business on August 30, 2024, the RBI said. «Thus, 97.96 per cent of the Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation as on May 19, 2023, has since been returned,» it said in a statement.

All-India house price index moderates to 3.3 pc in Q1 FY25: RBI Data
Mumbai: The all-India House Price Index (HPI) moderated to 3.3 per cent in the June quarter of 2024-25 from 5.1 per cent in the year-ago period, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Friday. The RBI releases HPI-based on transaction-level data received from the registration authorities in 10 major cities. The cities are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai. «All-India HPI increased by 3.3 per cent (y-o-y) in Q1:2024-25 as compared to 4.1 per cent growth in the previous quarter and 5.1 per cent a year ago; annual HPI growth varied widely across the cities — ranging from a high of 8.9 per cent (Kolkata) to a low of (-)1.7 per cent (Delhi),» the central bank said.
