Full body scanners to be deployed in phased manner at airports, says BCAS chief
body scanners will be deployed at airports in a phased manner and the process is expected to start at major airports within a year, BCAS chief Zulfiquar Hasan said on Monday and stressed that there will not be any privacy issues as those have already been sorted out worldwide. He also said that there will be options for passengers who have health issues in case they cannot use such scanners. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has set a deadline for the end of next year for the deployment of full body scanners at airports.

Pernod Ricard, world's second biggest distiller, is evaluating options to launch India-made premium spirits including whisky, rum and gin, to cash in on the surging demand for pricier and craft liquor products across segments. The French firm has already launched an Indian single malt currently being test-marketed in Mumbai and Goa, joining the league of companies such as Diageo and Radico Khaitan that launched high-end local brands such as Epitome Reserve and Rampur. Pencil maker DOMS preps ₹1,200 cr IPO as mkt swells
MUMBAI : DOMS Industries, India’s second-largest pencil maker, is set to file draft papers for a ₹1,200 crore initial public offering (IPO) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) in the second week of August, two investment bankers aware of the development said. Italy’s F.I.L.A. Group, which owns a 51% stake in DOMS, plans to offer shares worth ₹800 crore in the issue.

Ethnic violence drags down Manipur exports by nearly 80%
ethnic violence in Manipur has brought down the state's exports of handwoven textiles, medicinal plants and food items by almost 80%, according to M Chandrakeshore Singh Pallel, vice-president (Manipur) of North East Federation of International Trade (NEFIT). PTI, Superintendent of Police (SP) Shahaji Umap said, “Several persons have been detained in connection with the incident which took place on Saturday evening and the situation has been brought under control." The march was organised by the Eklavya Adivasi Sanghatana, a few other tribal organisations and the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi to condemn the incident in Manipur where two women were paraded naked and sexually assaulted by a mob on May 3.
