NCP leader and candidate from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar, Nawab Malik on Saturday, speaking to ANI, expressed confidence in winning the upcoming assembly elections from the Mankhurd-Shivaji Nagar assembly seat despite opposition from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena Shinde faction. «It was clear that when I will contest the elections, both Shiv Sena and BJP will oppose...But the way the party trusted me during these moments, sent the AB form and made me the candidate for the party...I will contest the elections with complete power...» he said.

Mumbai police have forwarded a proposal for extradition of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's younger brother Anmol Bishnoi, who has been named as an accused in some high-profile crimes, including the Baba Siddique murder case, an official said. The proposal was sent after the US authorities informed the Mumbai police about Anmol Bishnoi's presence in their country, the senior police official said on Saturday. Last month, the Mumbai police's crime branch moved the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court here stating that it intends to «initiate the extradition procedure of fugitive criminal Anmol Bishnoi».

Congress is facing a significant reduction in its presence in Mumbai for the upcoming assembly elections, contesting only 11 seats compared to 30 in 2019. This is the party’s smallest seat share in years. After extensive discussions with Shiv Sena (UBT), led by Mumbai Congress President MP Varsha Gaikwad and MLA Aslam Shaikh, the party struggled to secure a better deal under the MVA alliance. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case against Sawant, who represents the Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency, on the charge of insulting the modesty of a woman, an official said.
