Experts also said that though gender divide among migrants is less visible in Kerala, when compared to a few other states in India, there is lack of narratives about female migration abroad. Therefore, there is a need to conduct more studies from Kerala on migration from marginalized sections of the society, including those from queer communities. The session also touched upon the history and transformation of the political economy of the Gulf region during the colonial and post-colonial era.
