Engine Lease Finance BV, an aircraft engine lessor of SpiceJet, has moved an insolvency plea before the NCLT against the debt-ridden air carrier over non-payment of over USD 12 million (around Rs 100 crore). Engine Lease Finance (ELF) has leased eight engines to SpiceJet. Along with interest and rental, ELF has claimed an amount of around USD 16 million. The matter was listed before a Delhi-based bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Wednesday, which heard it briefly. Counsel appearing for SpiceJet sought time to respond to the petition filed by Engine Lease Finance. On this, the NCLT bench comprising members Mahendra Khandelwal and Sanjeev Ranjan directed SpiceJet to file its response to the petition.

He was arrested on Wednesday by the agency here. The court sent him to six days of ED custody. The ED had raided Alam's personal secretary Sanjeev Kumar Lal and his domestic help Jahangir Alam on May 6 and recovered a total Rs 32.2 crore from a flat in the name of the latter person. The total cash seizure in this case is Rs 37.5 crore.

Alamgir Alam, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case, was remanded to the ED custody for six days, said lawyers on Thursday. Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday arrested Jharkhand Minister and Congress leader Alamgir Alam in connection with a huge cash recovery from the household help of his personal secretary and state administrative service officer Sanjeev Kumar Lal. The Congress leader on Tuesday grilled by ED officials for over nine hours in connection with a money laundering case. Dr Dabholkar (67), an anti-superstition crusader, was shot dead while on a morning walk on a bridge near the Omkareshwar temple here on August 20, 2013. The special court convicted Dabholkar's two assailants — Sachin Andure and Sharad Kalaskar — and sentenced them to life imprisonment, but acquitted three others — ENT surgeon Dr Virendrasinh Tawde, Sanjeev Punalekar and Vikram Bhave — for want of evidence. «I am not happy with the judgment. What is the role of the Sanatan Sanstha and who is the mastermind of the murder has not been made clear.
