Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud has recommended to the Centre the names of two additional judges for appointment as permanent judges of the Gauhati High Court. The Collegium, also comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai, recommended that Justice Rajesh Sekhri be appointed as an additional judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court for a fresh term of one year with effect from July 29, 2024. "… the Collegium resolves to recommend that Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund and Justice Mitali Thakuria, additional judges, be appointed as permanent judges of the Gauhati High Court against the existing vacancies," said one of the Collegium resolutions uploaded on the apex court website. It noted that the Collegium of the Gauhati High Court had unanimously recommended on April 1 the names of these two judges for appointment as permanent judges.

The ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) platform by the government now has more than 5 lakh sellers, of which over 70 per cent are small or medium-sized sellers, said the Commerce Ministry in a statement. Enforcement Directorate Thursday told the Supreme Court it will soon file a prosecution complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. Appearing for the ED, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju told a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, «We are proposing to file the prosecution complaint (charge sheet) against Arvind Kejriwal and AAP. We will do it shortly. It is in the pipeline.» The statements were made by the ED during the hearing on Kejriwal's plea against his arrest. The Delhi chief minister was arrested on March 21 in the case.

Enforcement Directorate has summoned Jharkhand Rural Development Minister and Congress leader Alamgir Alam for questioning in a money laundering case on May 14, official sources said Sunday. The federal agency had last week arrested Alam's personal secretary Sanjiv Lal and the latter's domestic help following the seizure of more than Rs 32 crore cash from a flat linked to them.

MLAs on Friday withdrew their plea from the Supreme Court against the Himachal Pradesh Assembly speaker's decision to disqualify them from the House. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta was told by senior advocate Abhinav Mukherjee, appearing for the former MLAs, that they want to withdraw the petition. «We knew this was going to happen due to the elections,» the bench observed while allowing them to withdraw their plea. Supreme Court is poised to deliver an order today on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's interim bail in a money laundering case filed against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the Delhi excise policy case. A bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna hinted on Wednesday that it might decide on the interim relief for Kejriwal on Friday, informing the Enforcement Directorate counsel, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, of this possibility. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering probe linked to alleged irregularities in the now-defunct Delhi excise policy 2021-22.

The SC bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta told Arvind Kejriwal's counsel Abhishek Singhvi that if it were to give interim bail to the Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor, it doesn’t want him to be performing official duties as the CM as it could lead to a conflict somewhere.

₹36 crore in Ranchi, Jharkhand, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday arrested Sanjiv Lal, personal secretary to state rural development minister Alamgir Alam, and Lal's maid Jahangir Alam. They were presented before the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court, which remanded them to six days of ED custody.
