Big fat weddings have been urged to go local. So it’s goodbye Dubai, London, Maldives or Lake Como, and back to the drawing board. We know of at least three top business families—in Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Kolkata—that have had to search for desi alternatives at the last minute. Some have found a way out by hosting all the pre-wedding festivities in the original exotic locations as planned, while the big day is held back home. another storm.A major snow storm is set to hit several regions in Ontario and Quebec, while many residents in Western Canada fight through a severe cold snap. This latest weather comes after another system hit many parts of Canada earlier in the week; Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City were hit with snowfall Tuesday and Wednesday; the Maritimes also saw snowfall; parts of the West Coast dealt with winter weather before then, while the Prairies faced an extreme cold warning.Expected to start late Friday and into Saturday, parts of Ontario and Quebec are set to see another wallop of snow.Global News meteorologist Ross Hull said a Texas low will be moving into the Great Lakes area, adding the difference with the upcoming storm is that there’s more cold air available that’s building over the Prairies. He said that means there will likely be more snow before a transition to rain, especially for cities such as Toronto, closer to Lake Ontario.“The last system dropped five to 10 centimetres of wet snow for the GTHA. With this one we are anticipating more, but it’s still too early to pin down exact amounts,” Hull said Thursday.“Areas that did experience heavy snow with the most recent system will likely see the heaviest amounts with this latest disturbance too.”Environment Canada is forecasting five to 10 centimetres of snow; Ottawa, which was forecast to get 10 to 15 centimetres of snow earlier in the week, is expected to get 15 to 25 centimetres of snow in this system.

Meanwhile, some places south of Watertown, New York, may record snow of up to 2 feet on Wednesday. Lake-Effect Snow Warnings have been sounded across Erie, Pennsylvania, into Jamestown, New York, and the Buffalo Southtowns, and locations such as Syracuse, Watertown and Old Forge of central New York. Thanksgiving 2023 travel season is likely to be affected by inclement weather. Weather forecasters have predicted that storms could severely impact flights and road trips ahead of the holiday period. Severe thunderstorms are forecasted to intensify in the Southern Plains during Sunday afternoon and evening, expanding eastward into the Southern United States by Monday's end and reaching the Southeast on Tuesday, as reported by weather experts to USA Today. AAA, which monitors holiday travel, anticipates that 55.4 million Americans will travel over 50 miles for Thanksgiving between November 22 and November 26. The majority, around 49.1 million, are expected to travel by road, according to AAA. Early travelers departing on Monday along the Eastern Seaboard and into the Great Lakes region may experience relatively lighter rain and thunderstorms, avoiding some of the heavier traffic and delays expected later in the week, noted weather experts. Ski resorts in the interior western states, such as Nevada, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming, can expect favorable conditions with the potential for mountain snow on Thursday and Friday. The most impactful weather on Monday is predicted in the southern tier of the United States, affecting states like Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Tuesday night and Wednesday morning could see critical weather conditions in major hubs across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast, with heavy rain anticipated from Washington, D.C., to Boston.
