Lake-Effect Snow Warnings have been sounded across Erie, Pennsylvania, into Jamestown, New York, and the Buffalo Southtowns, and locations such as Syracuse, Watertown and Old Forge of central New York.
Owing to the weather condition, New York Governor, Kathy Hochul has urged all residents of New York to brace up for the impact of the winter storm. She has also asked the people to be extra cautious and check the forecast before planning a trip.
Hochul in a statement said, «The most hazardous weather conditions will be in the areas where lake-effect snow bands form and produce a lot of snow in a short period, which will hamper travel in some places for the next day or so».
According to the FOX Forecast Center, from the northeastern Ohio snowbelt through southwestern New York and the Buffalo Southtowns, more than a foot of snow is predicted to fall. In the metro Buffalo area, where only a few inches of snowfall are possible, significant snowfall totals are not anticipated.
The eastern shores of Lake Ontario on the Tug Hill Plateau in central New York are expected to receive very heavy snowfall. On Tuesday afternoon, the winds will shift to the northwest resulting in snowfall in Syracuse, New York, metro. Besides, Tug Hill Plateau is likely to receive more than 2 feet of snow.
