Microsoft to Unbundle Teams Software in Europe
Microsoft says it will change the way it sells its Teams videoconferencing service to business customers in Europe in a push to address concerns raised in a European Union antitrust investigation. The software giant said Thursday that it plans to offer business customers the chance to buy a lower-priced version of its productivity suites that doesn’t include the videoconferencing app. New customers would still have the option of purchasing Teams separately if they want the service.

Stubborn Inflation Proves Difficult to Tame in Europe
Eurozone inflation remains stubbornly high even as other signs point to a slowing economy, presenting the European Central Bank with the tricky task of cooling already anemic demand without pushing the region into a prolonged recession. The surge in energy and food prices that followed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has left the eurozone with higher inflation and weaker growth than in the U.S. When ECB policy makers raised the bank’s key rate last month, they signaled that they might pause at their next meeting, which is scheduled for Sept.

MiCA: The good, the bad and the ugly of the EU’s crypto rules
While United States regulators such as Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler make bad-faith claims that “there’s been clarity for years” when it comes to cryptocurrency, the European Union took real action in April when it passed the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework. While imperfect, it was a crucial move in the right direction for our industry and a signal to the U.S. that it will be left behind if it continues to stand still and rely on antiquated regulations.
