During the match Kohli had an intense argument with Naveen-ul-Haq and Amit Mishra. The exchanges spilled over and Kohli found himself in a heated exchange with LSG opener Kyle Mayers, prompting Gambhir (then LSG mentor) to intervene. This action appeared to provoke Kohli, leading to a fiery exchange between Gambhir and Kohli. The confrontation reached its peak as both men exchanged heated words, with teammates attempting to mediate.

Mercedes-Benz is unfazed by the likelihood of Tesla entering India with imported electric cars at much lower duty and believes that the country's new EV policy has safeguards for existing players, a senior company official said on Thursday. While the entry of the likes of Tesla and VinFast will help expand the market and accelerate EV adoption in India, Mercedes-Benz is confident to maintain leadership in the luxury EV space as the new entrants would play in the lower segment. «I think new competitions and new players are always welcome. It helps to expand the market, spread more awareness, which is also the need of the hour to get more EV penetration,» Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Santosh Iyer told PTI. He was responding to a query on the implications of India's new EV policy and if it puts manufacturers which have already invested in the country at a disadvantage.

India lost a «substantial» amount of land to China, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh affirmed that no one can occupy even an inch of Indian land under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. New Delhi: Rising prices of raw materials for manufacturing plastic products could further burden the Indian economy lead to a hike in the prices of plastic goods in the near future, said Sribash Dasmohapatra, executive director of the Plastic Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL), a body under the ministry of commerce. Raw materials used for manufacturing plastics, such as ethylene and propylene, are primarily sourced from countries with abundant petrochemical resources like Russia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

In 2019, there were over 5.2 lakh stroke deaths linked to non-optimal temperatures, the study, published in the journal Neurology, found. While the majority of these stroke deaths — more than 4.7 lakh — were due to lower than optimal temperatures, researchers also found that number of deaths from stroke linked to higher than optimal temperatures had increased, when compared with 1990. They associated optimal temperatures with the lowest death rates. The burden of stroke «due to high temperature has increased rapidly, especially among people aged older than 10 years, and was disproportionately concentrated in low Socio-demographic Index (SDI) regions such as Africa,» they wrote in the study.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday wondered why the country's borders were shrinking and how free was its press. Newsweek and opened up on the relations with China, Congress veteran Jairam Ramesh on Thursday said that PM Modi's reaction to the China issue is an 'insult to the martyrs. China have recorded a positive growth in 2023 out of the total 161 such goods shipped to the neighbouring country, according to commerce ministry data. These 90 commodities account for 67.7 per cent of India's export basket to China, while 71 products that have registered a negative export growth in 2023 constitute 32.3 per cent, the data showed. There are four commodities level where India has improved its export to China by more than USD 100 million in 2023. They are iron ore (216.8 per cent to USD 3.33 billion in 2023), cotton yarn (542.6 per cent to USD 611.17 million in 2023), spices (19.4 per cent to USD 132.26 million in 2023), and processed minerals (174.19 per cent to USD 129 million in 2023).
