Infosys, India's second largest software services exporter, has made a windfall gain of Rs 6,329 crore due to income tax refund orders for 11 assessment years. The company got the refunds in the fourth quarter of financial year 2023-24, the company said. The refunds, inclusive of interest, pertain to assessment years spanning from financial years 2007-08 to 2018-19, except 2016-17.

Army Sports Institute will be imparting rigorous training to young female athletes to help them compete at national and international level, Lt General Ajai Kumar Singh, General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command said on Sunday. Altogether 30 girls have been enrolled and will begin training at the institute in May, Lt Gen Singh said in an interview to PTI, on the eve of the Southern Command celebrating its 130th Raising Day on April 1. NTPC has closed down its Barauni Thermal Power Station Stage-I of 220 MW permanently. NTPC is India's largest power utility with a total installed capacity of 75,418 MW (including JVs), according to its official website. «Operation of NTPC Barauni Thermal Power Station Stage-I (2x110 MW) comprising of two Units (Unit 6 & 7) of 110 MW each (along with all Auxiliary systems except CHP, Switchyard, Ash Dyke and Township) shall be permanently discontinued w.e.f. 31st March 2024,» a regulatory filing said on Saturday. Established in 1975, NTPC aims to become a 130 GW firm by 2032.

Congress on Sunday accused the Modi government of violating the Constitution by resorting to «confrontational federalism». West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday mocked the BJP's target of winning 400-plus seats in the Lok Sabha polls and challenged the saffron camp to win at least 200 constituencies. Banerjee also asserted that she won't allow the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act in the state. She cautioned people that applying for CAA would turn an applicant into a foreigner and urged them not to apply for it. «The BJP is saying „400 paar“, I challenge them to cross the 200 seats benchmark first. In 2021 assembly polls, they gave a call of 200 plus seats but had to stop at 77,» she said.
