US India Strategic Partnership Forum spoke with ET on potential of the partnership and what to expect from the meeting of top military manufacturers, startups and venture capital firms that are gathering at the Stanford university to identify future military challenges, emerging disruptive technologies and jointly develop solutions for the armed forces. Particular interest is expected in startups that have focused on Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity and autonomous systems. The summit will take forward the top level Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (ICET) initiative signed between the two nations. New Zealand seek to exploit Afghanistan's red-ball inexperience in one-off Test
New Zealand will aim to exploit Afghanistan's relative inexperience in red-ball cricket, in the one-off Test starting here from Monday, and gather momentum ahead of their upcoming World Test Championship challenges in the sub continent. New Zealand's first-ever Test against Afghanistan will kick off a challenging couple of months for the Black Caps who play six long-format matches on the bounce in the subcontinent, something they haven't done in 40 years. With their underwhelming subcontinent record in mind (40 losses in 90 matches), New Zealand would want to hit the straps straightaway.

Parsis made silent but immense contribution to India's development: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Sunday said Parsis have made silent but immense contribution to India's development, and lauded the role of Gujarati newspaper Mumbai Samachar in that journey. Speaking after releasing documentary film 'Mumbai Samachar- 200 Not Out', which chronicles the remarkable 200-year journey of Asia's oldest newspaper, Shah said the Camas, who run it, exemplify journalism of trust. «We must respect Parsi families like the Camas, who still speak Gujarati and run a newspaper in the language. I want to say to those who fight for the rights of minorities that if there is any true minority among minorities, then it is the Parsi community. Without ever struggling for rights, they have lived their lives focussing on their duties,» Shah said. Without ever making any demand, they have contributed to every field, he added. They did their duty in fields like governance, industry, Information Technology, fintech, atomic science as well as winning the war that gave birth to Bangladesh (an apparent reference to Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw), Shah added.

Some PE, VC investors more equal than others? Sebi seeks to find out
private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) investors more equal than others? The capital market regulator has asked several funds to reveal the names of investors who have been offered beneficial terms by the funds and have representation on the funds' investment committees. Many PE and VCs — or, alternative investment funds (AIFs), the regulatory term for such pooled vehicles — have been told to spell out the details of these differential rights given to certain investors. In a communique to many AIFs about a week ago, the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi) asked fund managements to submit documents like 'side letters' and 'contribution agreements' that provide special rights to investors. The regulator may compare a side letter, which is an agreement between a fund house and some investors, providing rights and obligations which are outside the standard investment document, with the fund's private placement memorandum (PPM) — the disclosure document used for fund raising through private offering.
