When good writing starts looking like AI
New York Magazine. Her piece moved from a day-care worker mocked for words like “juxtaposition” and “circumstantial” to a Moroccan writer accused within minutes of submitting work, to a business professor raised across Asia who said the English textbooks he learned from had given him precisely the kind of vocabulary people now associate with ChatGPT. The writers with autism she spoke to said this was not new.

Explainer | Why India is pushing to cut remittance costs at WTO
India joined several developing countries to advocate for a global framework to lower cross-border remittance costs ahead of the World Trade Organisation's 14th ministerial conference (MC14), marking a focus on development-linked financial issues in trade. The proposal, supported by Morocco, Pakistan and the African Group, addresses remittance fees, which remain above the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals target of under 3% by 2030. On several routes, costs still range between 5% and 6%, significantly reducing the amount that ultimately reaches recipient households.

India joins push to cut remittance costs ahead of WTO ministerial meet
New Delhi: India has joined a group of developing economies in pushing for a global framework to reduce the cost of cross-border remittances, positioning the issue as a key development priority ahead of the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization scheduled in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, later this month. The conference will take place during 26-29 March 2026.In a revised draft ministerial declaration circulated on 17 March, India, along with Morocco, Pakistan and the African Group, called for coordinated global action to bring down remittance transaction costs, which remain significantly above the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal target of less than 3% by 2030.India is world’s largest recipient of remittances, with inflows estimated at around $135.4 billion in FY25, according to an India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) report. This marks a steady rise from about $129 billion in 2024 and reflects a strong increase over the past decade.

Non-stop football: Top stars face grueling schedule until World Cup 2026
Thomas Tuchel is worried. Tuchel, the new coach of the England men’s national football team, is concerned that his players will be burned out by the time they arrive in North America next summer for the 2026 World Cup. “I am not so concerned about the number of games the players play in total,” Tuchel said. “I am more concerned that they never have a real break of three to four weeks.” Tuchel is not the first to raise the issue. Last year, FIFPro, the international players union, made its feelings known about the demands placed on athletes in the men’s game, echoing concerns expressed by a range of players — including Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Rodri — about the lack of breaks from the physical demands of competitive matches. It will be worse for some than others Take Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. He has been out injured since February but is expected to be available again soon. It is unlikely that he will play every game possible and also that Chelsea and his national team, Senegal, will go the distance in every competition they are in, but if they did, he could theoretically be involved in more than 100 matches from now to the end of the 2026 World Cup.

Best Food for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025: The best dishes to celebrate the festive feast
Due to the incredible diversity of Muslim communities in the subcontinent, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and multicultural Australia, households and cultures prepare and consume Eid al-Fitr foods in unique ways. Muslims prepare to celebrate Eid al-Fitr after observing Ramadan, the holy month of prayer and fasting, which is just a few days away. Families gather and celebrate with a feast of food, which is a staple of any celebration, while the day begins with prayer and customs. Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated differently in each Muslim culture. In Turkey, for example, children receive candy and sugar-coated almonds as part of the celebration. Sweets such as Ghoriba Bahla, Fekkas, and Kaab el Ghazal are essential to Moroccan holiday celebrations. In Indonesia, however, celebrations include the preparation of traditional foods such as Ketupat, which is considered a symbol of blessings and forgiveness.

'World's Best' Christchurch airport hit by fog, flight operations affected
fog enveloped New Zealand’s Christchurch airport on Thursday (March 27) disrupting flight operations and throwing the travel plans of thousands of travellers out of gear. Airlines operating from Christchurch airport either cancelled or delayed their flights due to fog. According to a Christchurch Airport spokesperson, two flights were delayed at 8.40am on Thursday while by 10am the airport's website reported flights coming to Christchurch from Auckland and Nelson were cancelled. Among the affected airlines were Jetstar, which had to delay its flight from Auckland, and Air New Zealand. The latter had to cancel its flight to Invercargill due to fog and also divert some of them away from Christchurch. Just three weeks ago, Christchurch airport was rated as the best in a study of 3500 international travellers. New Zealand’s Queenstown Airport was in second position. Madeira Airport in Portugal ranked third with a score of 9.07. The study, involving 3500 international travellers, focused on airport experiences. India imports 8.47 lakh tons of DAP fertiliser from China by Februay
India has imported 8.47 lakh tonnes of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser from China till February in the current fiscal year, government data showed. The Chinese imports represent 19.17 per cent of India's total DAP imports of 44.19 lakh tonnes during the period. In the previous fiscal year, China accounted for 22.28 lakh tonnes, or about 40 per cent, of India's overall DAP imports of 55.67 lakh tonnes. DAP is the second most widely used fertiliser in India after urea. The country also imports DAP from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Jordan, both as finished fertiliser and raw materials such as rock phosphate and intermediate chemicals. For the ongoing rabi season, domestic availability of DAP fertilisers has exceeded the estimated requirement of 52 lakh tonnes, with 48 lakh tonnes already sold. As of March 11, India maintained a closing DAP stock of 9.43 lakh tonnes. Domestic production of DAP and complex fertilisers has been constrained by several factors, including marketing limitations, high finished goods inventory and insufficient manpower.

This country has eclipsed Egypt as the most visited country in Africa
That has officially given it the edge over Egypt, the previous tourism leader on the continent, and who also shattered its own arrival record, welcoming 15.7 million visitors in 2024. While no governing body tracks arrival numbers for every African nation, both UN Tourism and the World Travel & Tourism Council confirm that North African nations outpace sub-Saharan ones in terms of tourism volume. Morocco’s new tourism benchmark marks an astounding 20% jump from 2023 and more than a 33% increase over 2019 pre-pandemic levels when the Arabian destination received 13 million visitors. It has also put the Kingdom of Light two years ahead of its tourism projections.

What Bitcoin’s $100K journey means for the global crypto market
Bitcoin has seen a dream run over the past month since the reelection of Donald Trump as the 47th US President. From around $67,000 on the day of the election to a lifetime of $99,655, Bitcoin has increased its value by close to 50% in just a month. This rally also brought a staggering $6.2 billion net inflow into Bitcoin ETFs over the month. While BTC attempted to touch the milestone last week, we saw bears take control, leading to some profitbooking pulling down BTC’s price by around 9%. After testing the key support point of $90,000 – Bitcoin is all set to re-attempt the six-figure mark. Let's deep dive into what the milestone could result in and how BTC at $100k impacts the global crypto market in the short term and the long term.
