Indians traveling to South America via Istanbul will now need an e-ATV
Turkiye announced on Tuesday that Turkish authorities have initiated a requirement for Indian and Nepalese passport holders traveling to Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela, transiting via Istanbul Airport, to obtain an 'Electronic Airport Transit Visa' (e-ATV). As per the embassy's statement shared on X by the Turkish Embassy in India, Indian and Nepalese passport holders subject to this requirement can obtain the e-ATV through the website «evisa.gov.tr» starting from April 15. Importantly, this service is provided free of charge, adhering to the current practice.

PhonePe partners with eSewa, HAN Pokhara to promote UPI in Nepal
PhonePe on Wednesday said it has partnered with Nepal's digital wallet service eSewa and the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) Pokhara to promote digital payments through UPI on the Himalayan country's payment processor Fonepay Network. The partnership is a part of the Fewa New Year Festival which will be held from April 11-14 in Nepal. Mumbai: Homegrown Care Ratings Ltd plans to start its sovereign debt ratings service with countries in Asia and Africa, followed by Europe in the long term, a top executive said. The agency, which is creating a subsidiary in GIFT City for the purpose, will start with countries where it already has some presence, such as Nepal, Mauritius and South Africa. The board of Care Ratings last month approved setting up CareEdge Global IFSC Ltd for the purpose, managing director and group chief executive of CareEdge—a group level brand identity—Mehul Pandya said in an interview.

Now, pay using UPI to Nepalese merchants
NPCI on Friday announced that Unified Payment Interface (UPI) is now live in neighbouring Nepal. UPI users can scan QR codes to make payments to Nepalese merchants, said an official statement. This comes after a tie-up between the National Payments Corporation of India International Payments (NIPL) and Nepal's largest payment network Fonepay Payment Service in September last year. In its first phase, the partnership will enable Indian consumers to make instant, secure, and convenient UPI payments across various business stores in Nepal by using UPI-enabled apps, the statement said.
