NY state urges appeals court to uphold Donald Trump's nearly $500 million civil fraud judgment
Donald Trump's nearly USD 500 million civil fraud judgment, arguing there's «overwhelming evidence» to support a judge's finding that the former president lied for years about his wealth as he built his real estate empire. In paperwork filed ahead of oral arguments next month, New York Attorney General Letitia James' office said the current Republican nominee's appeal is awash in «meritless legal arguments» and ignores volumes of trial evidence showing that he and his co-defendants engaged in «fraud and illegality on an immense scale.» «On appeal, defendants tellingly ignore almost all their deceptions,» Assistant Solicitor General Daniel S Magy wrote in a 168-page submission to the state's mid-level appeals court known as the Appellate Division. Trump, his company and top executives including his sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr «created and used financial statements rife with blatant misrepresentations and omissions to maintain loans worth more than half a billion dollars and to generate over USD 360 million in ill-gotten profits,» Magy wrote.

Binance hiring 1,000 as compliance spending tops $200 million
Binance Holdings Ltd. is hiring 1,000 people this year with many earmarked for compliance roles as the crypto exchange’s annual spending to meet regulatory requirements, including US oversight under a plea deal, tops $200 million. Chief executive officer Richard Teng, who is visiting the US to talk to monitors and officials, outlined the employment goals for the world’s largest crypto trading platform in an interview with Bloomberg News in New York on Wednesday. “I’ve been a regulator all my life,” Teng said. “Government agencies are important.” He declined to say whether he has met with the securities and exchange commission during his trip. The SEC is suing Binance and wasn’t part of the US settlement.

Did Kamala Harris snub the Obamas at DNC 2024? She left for Milwaukee before their speeches
Kamala Harris unexpectedly departed for Milwaukee. The move, seen by some as a deliberate snub, raised eyebrows, especially given the Obamas’ delayed endorsement of Harris. Instead of attending the Obamas' speeches, Harris opted to address a nearly full arena in Milwaukee and hold a DNC watch party with her rally attendees, as per the reports of the New York Post. In Milwaukee, Democratic organizer Jaliah Jefferson informed the crowd at Fiserv Forum that they would be featured live as part of the DNC broadcast. Jefferson encouraged the audience to bring energy, emphasizing that the nation needed to see Wisconsin standing behind Harris. The enthusiastic crowd, energized by DJ Shawna, responded eagerly, especially those from Illinois who cheered loudly when acknowledged.

Where will Barron attend college? Here's what Trump says
Barron Trump, the youngest member of the Trump family, plans to enroll in a New York university this autumn. Prior to his campaign stop in Michigan, the former president stated in an exclusive interview that he's all set in a certain school that's very good. The former president majored in economics when he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. The 45th president stated that although the school is located in the Empire State, a specific announcement about it will be made soon by his team. Trump grinned on being questioned whether the said school was New York University and insisted that he would not identify the university until the announcement went live. Barron Trump is smart and has always been a very good student at school. May marked Barron Trump's 18th high school graduation. His father had previously stated that he was in the process of choosing between multiple schools. According to Trump, his 6-foot-7 son is interested in politics and occasionally gives him advice. Highest in a decade: More than 28% Americans are looking for a new job
New York Federal Reserve, 28.4% of participants said they were looking for work, which is a rise from 19.4% one year ago and the highest percentage since March 2014. That covers both those who are currently unemployed and those who are employed but looking for new opportunities. Even though some economists are lowering their predictions of a recession, the results of the New York Fed's thrice-annual Survey of Consumer Expectations Labor Market Survey provide more proof that the U.S. economic outlook is becoming worse. Although it is still relatively low at 4.3%, the unemployment rate has increased from its 3.5% post-pandemic low. Also Read: Is Prince Andrew facing an unexpected relocation?
