How Saudi clubs are disrupting European football
Public Investment Fund (PIF) is co-ordinating the acquisition of players based in Europe, of whom it aims to place at least three at each of these clubs. Four state-owned entities have invested in another four teams. The PIF argues that its involvement in football is part of a broader project to diversify the Saudi economy away from oil and to promote physical activity among citizens.

600,000 gallons of red wine flood small Portuguese town; watch video
river of red wine flowing through its streets. According to reports from the New York Post, this peculiar incident occurred when barrels containing a whopping 600,000 gallons of liquor unexpectedly collapsed. Videos of the event went viral on social media, showing the crimson liquid cascading down a steep hill in the quaint town of São Lorenco de Bairro. Despite the town's small population, with approximately 2,000 residents, the magnitude of the wine spill was staggering. In fact, it was estimated that the amount of wine that poured out could have filled an Olympic-sized swimming pool, prompting environmental concerns. Local officials swiftly took action to prevent the wine from contaminating the Certima River. The Anadia Fire Department managed to contain the flow and redirected it away from the river, diverting it into a nearby field. However, the incident also led to a basement in a residence near the distillery being flooded by the wine. This unusual accident left residents and authorities grappling with the unexpected deluge of wine, a sight that will likely be remembered for years to come.

INDIA bloc constituents want to destroy Sanatan Hindu dharma: Goa CM Pramod Sawant
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday alleged that members of the opposition INDIA alliance want to erase the Sanatan Hindu religion which withstood such attempts made in the past by Mughal rulers, the British and the Portuguese. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader's remarks came amid a political row after Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who belongs to DMK, blamed Sanatan Dharma for promoting division and discrimination among people and called for its eradication. Also, DMK leader A Raja had likened Sanatan Dharma to diseases like leprosy and HIV which had social stigma. «Mughal rulers like Babar, the British and the Portuguese, who came to Goa with the agenda of forced conversion, had tried to eradicate the Sanatan Hindu religion, but all of them failed.

Cheap Europe flights could soon be a thing of the past, all thanks to France
climate crisis, the French government is set to propose a minimum flight price policy to the European Union, potentially spelling the end of ultra-cheap flights within Europe. Clément Beaune, the French Transport Minister, emphasized in an interview with L’Obs that low-cost flights are no longer sustainable, primarily due to the climate emergency. He argued that the rock-bottom fares do not account for the true environmental cost, stating that they "[don’t] reflect the price for the planet." This announcement comes on the heels of France's decision to ban select short-haul flight routes, encouraging travelers to opt for rail travel and thereby reduce carbon emissions. While this ban has, for now, affected only three routes (Paris-Orly to Bordeaux, Lyon, and Nantes), it symbolizes a larger commitment to environmental responsibility. Furthermore, taking inspiration from Portugal and Germany's successful affordable monthly rail pass initiatives, the French government is reportedly exploring the possibility of introducing a similar scheme. Europe is witnessing a resurgence in rail travel, with plans for new high-speed routes and the revival of sleeper routes, such as the one from Paris to Berlin. With viable alternatives to flying emerging, the potential end of cheap flights could provide added motivation for passengers to opt for train travel and contribute to a more sustainable future.
