Software Research Simulation War reports Arsenal US nuclear expansion unlikely to deter China: Study
Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has revealed that increasing US nuclear capabilities would not deter China from employing atomic weapons in a conflict over Taiwan, Taipei Times reported. The findings, published in a report on Friday, challenge current calls among policy experts to expand and modernise the US nuclear arsenal in response to China's growing military strength. The table top exercise, described as the first large-scale unclassified simulation of a potential nuclear war over Taiwan, explored scenarios where nuclear weapons might be used. According to the report, the US's nuclear capabilities, beyond ongoing modernisation efforts, had minimal impact on Beijing's willingness to deploy nuclear arms. Instead, the exercise highlighted the conditions under which either side might face pressure to resort to nuclear strikes, rather than the likelihood of such weapons being used.

markets CEO Platform Software Justice social donates After showing support on social media, now fans donate over $30,000 to Luigi Mangione's defence and want Kim Kardashian to protect the alleged killer
Luigi Mangione comes from a well-known and wealthy family, thousands of dollars have been donated anonymously online to support his defence against charges related to the murder of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. As of Wednesday afternoon, one fundraiser on GiveSendGo, a Christian-based free speech fundraising platform, had raised over $31,000 towards a $200,000 target. A recently established December 4th Legal Committee, perhaps alluding to the shooting date, established the New Jersey-based fund, as quoted in a report by USA Today. Organisers on GiveSendGo have written directly to Mangione in jail to determine how he would like to use the funds. If he rejects them, the money would be donated to legal funds for other U.S. political prisoners.

markets UPS Williams Strategy Boeing students NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Willmore hit six-month mark in space, countdown to Earth is on
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore embarked on a historic mission in June, being the first to fly Boeing's new Starliner crew capsule to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission, intended as a weeklong test flight, faced significant challenges when thruster failures and helium leaks occurred during the journey. NASA subsequently deemed the capsule unsafe for a return flight, extending the astronauts' stay in orbit to February 2024, when they are expected to return aboard a SpaceX spacecraft. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Williams and Wilmore, both retired Navy captains, have embraced their extended mission with resilience and positivity. «We’re just on a different path,» Wilmore commented on their situation.

COST Provident Target Platform Strategy testing Stealth destroyer to be home for 1st hypersonic weapon on US warship
US Navy is transforming a costly flub into a potent weapon with the first shipborne hypersonic weapon, which is being retrofitted aboard the first of its three stealthy destroyers. The USS Zumwalt is at a Mississippi shipyard where workers have installed missile tubes that replace twin turrets from a gun system that was never activated because it was too expensive. Once the system is complete, the Zumwalt will provide a platform for conducting fast, precision strikes from greater distances, adding to the usefulness of the warship. «It was a costly blunder but the Navy could take victory from the jaws of defeat here, and get some utility out of them by making them into a hypersonic platform,» said Bryan Clark, a defense analyst at the Hudson Institute. The US has had several types of hypersonic weapons in development for the past two decades, but recent tests by both Russia and China have added pressure to the US military to hasten their production.
