"Given the grave statements coming from Turkey, I have ordered the return of diplomatic representatives there in order to conduct a reevaluation of the relations between Israel and Turkey," Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Israeli strikes destroy 'hundreds' of Gaza buildings, say rescuers
Israel's army relentlessly hammered Gaza on Saturday after fierce overnight bombardment that rescuers said destroyed hundreds of buildings three weeks into a war sparked by the deadliest attack in the country's history. Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged Israel to halt the attacks, while the families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas said they had been snubbed by the government when asking about their fate. Israel unleashed its bombing campaign after Hamas gunmen stormed across the Gaza border on October 7, killing 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and seizing more than 220 hostages, according to Israeli officials. The health ministry in the Hamas-run Gaza said Israeli strikes had killed 7,703 people, mainly civilians, with more than 3,500 of them children. The conflict is the fifth and deadliest in Gaza since Israel unilaterally withdrew from the Palestinian territory in 2005. The latest Israeli strikes against Hamas, the Islamist group that has ruled Gaza since 2007, were the most intense since the war broke out.

India, Iran, Armenia aim to balance Pakistan-Azerbaijan-Turkey axis
India, Iran and Armenia has the potential to balance the Pakistan-Azerbaijan-Turkey axis, which has gained momentum with several engagements between Islamabad and Baku this year. The first India-Iran-Armenia trilateral aims to connect Armenia with India via Iran, ET has learnt. During a meeting in the Armenian capital Yerevan this April, the three sides discussed economic projects and regional communication channels, outlined the prospects of deepening cultural and people-to-people contacts as well as trilateral cooperation in various fields. The three countries had then decided to «continue consultations» in the format, sources recalled. The trilateral meeting also discussed the use of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) as a regional connectivity initiative. Armenia, whose ties with New Delhi are acquiring strategic dimensions, has proposed the Persian Gulf-Black Sea corridor via Iran parallel to INSTC or part of a new branch of INSTC to connect Indian traders with Russia and Europe, sources said. Given the extensive experience of Indian companies in taking part in large-scale infrastructure projects abroad and India's interest in launching the India-Europe transport corridor route via Iran and Georgia, Armenia plans to start negotiations with India to discuss the involvement of Indian funding and Indian companies into the project.

Cairo Peace Summit: Arabs call for de-escalation
Israel-Hamas war becoming a wider conflict. Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said he'd agreed with US President Joe Biden that the Rafah crossing should be open “sustainably.” The Israeli Defense Force said it was responding with live fire on Saturday to a number of launches made toward Israel by Lebanon. Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported earlier that Israel's military struck a village near the countries' border. Switzerland's top prosecutor announced the start of a criminal investigation into alleged payments made to Hamas weeks before the attacks on Israel, the Swiss public broadcaster reported on Saturday. Attorney General Stefan Blaettler said the accusation centers on financial support to a terrorist organization, while declining to say who the proceedings are directed against. Egypt opened its crisis summit in Cairo with the leaders of Italy, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and South Africa among those on hand, as well as senior officials from the EU, Turkey, Russia and China.

Andre Iguodala announces retirement after 19 NBA seasons. Check stats, teams
Four-time NBA champion Iguodala announced his retirement Friday after 19 seasons with four teams. Iguodala, 39, won all of his titles with the Golden State Warriors and was the 2015 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player. The 2011-12 All-Star and 2012 Olympic gold medalist said he turned down interest from the Warriors and other teams before deciding to step away to spend more time with his family. While not unexpected, the Warriors were willing to bring Iguodala back if he had desired to continue. He averaged 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 1,231 games (784 starts) with the Philadelphia 76ers (2004-12), Denver Nuggets (2012-13), Warriors (2013-19, 2021-23) and Miami Heat (2019-21). Iguodala made the 2004-05 All-Rookie first team and the All-Defensive teams in 2010-11 (second team) and 2013-14 (first team). His championships with Golden State came in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. His teams made the playoffs 15 times and he appeared in 177 postseason games (107 starts), averaging 9.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists. In the 2015 Finals against Cleveland, he earned MVP honors after averaging 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals and playing outstanding defense against Cavaliers star LeBron James throughout the six-game series. The Sixers drafted Iguodala with the No. 9 pick in 2004 out of Arizona. He earned a gold medal with the United States at the 2012 Summer Games in London. Iguodala also won a FIBA world championship in 2010 in Turkey.
