Danube River port infrastructure that is critical to Ukraine's grain exports, injuring at least two people in the attack on southern parts of the Odesa region on Sunday, Ukrainian officials said. The Danube has become Ukraine's main route for exporting grain since July, when Russia quit a U.N. and Turkey-brokered deal that had given safe passage to Kyiv's exports of grains, oilseeds and vegetables oils via the Black Sea. Sunday's attack took place the day before Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan are due to hold talks in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi. Turkey has been pressing to revive the grain deal. Ukraine's South Military Command said on social media that at least two civilians were injured in the early morning attack on what it called «civil infrastructure of the Danube». The Ukrainian Air Force said air defence systems shot down 22 of the 25 Iranian-made Shahed drones launched by Russia.

Russia's military, the deputy chair of the Russian Security Council, former President Dmitry Medvedev, said on Sunday. Visiting Russia's Far East, Medvedev said he was meeting local officials to work on efforts to beef up the armed forces. «According to the Ministry of Defence, since Jan. 1, about 280,000 people have been accepted into the ranks of the Armed Forces on a contract basis,» including reservists, state news agency TASS quoted Medvedev as saying. Some of the lawmakers cited Russia's war on Ukraine and the crackdown on human rights in Iran as reasons for their boycott.

Ukrainian naval drones being used in an attempt to attack a key bridge linking Russia to Moscow-annexed Crimea, forcing its temporary closure for the third time in less than a year. One naval drone was destroyed late Friday and two others early Saturday morning, according to Russia's Defence Ministry.

Vladimir Putin will host his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday, the Kremlin said, amid hopes the two can restore a deal ensuring safe passage for grain shipments. Russia pulled out from the UN-backed grain agreement that Turkey helped broker in July, effectively revoking safe navigation for civilian ships sailing through the Black Sea. «Negotiations will indeed take place in Sochi on Monday,» Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday. Moscow's announcement came shortly after Ukraine said two more ships were sailing through a temporary corridor Kyiv had set up to ensure safe navigation. «Two vessels are sailing through a temporary corridor from Ukraine's Black Sea ports to the Bosphorus,» Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said on social media.

NEW DELHI : Average room rates for premier New Delhi hotels are set to triple next week, reaching a range of ₹18,000- ₹25,000, amid heightened demand driven by the arrival of thousands of delegates from 20 nations for the G20 summit across 9 and 10 September. The average daily rate (ADR), a key metric used by hoteliers to measure room revenue, from 7-11 September surged to ₹26,000, a more than fourfold increase from the average ₹6,000 in the past year, according to RateGain Travel Technologies’ Adara division data. ADR includes room rates, food and beverage, and other services availed of by customers, but it only counts the occupied rooms in a hotel, not the empty ones.
