Pragyan, moving on the surface of the moon, is in a «race against time» and that the ISRO scientists are working to cover a maximum distance of the uncharted South pole through the six-wheeled rover. The scientist said that «real work» starts only after a soft landing on the moon's surface. India took a giant leap on August 23, as the Chandrayaan-3 lander module successfully landed on the moon’s South pole, making it the first country to have achieved the historic feat. The country became the fourth– after the US, China, and Russia – to have successfully landed on the moon’s surface. «On August 23, we achieved a soft landing on the lunar surface and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with scientists of ISRO to congratulate them. But, the real work started after rover Pragyan rolled out of the lander Vikram,» Desai said.

UPS FIVE Digital NIFTY consolidation Market to be in consolidation phase over next 1-2 quarters: Mahesh Nandurkar
«When you are able to make a 5% risk-free rate in the US, then that is obviously going to be something that will put equity valuations all over the world into a question mark, so that is one thing that we need to keep in mind,» says Mahesh Nandurkar, Head of Research & MD, Jefferies. What is your market view after the recent rally, is it time now for markets to consolidate or the upside in the market is still left in the near term?Yes, I think the markets have had a decent run and my sense is that it is not simply because of the reason that there could be a consolidation phase ahead but also the other global risk that we need to keep in mind is the significantly higher US treasury yields. I mean, the risk-free rates in the US have gone back up to the peak levels that we saw back in March. So, when you are able to make a 5% risk-free rate in the US, then that is obviously going to be something that will put equity valuations all over the world into a question mark, so that is one thing that we need to keep in mind. Also, from the India standpoint, I think the Indian inflation itself was a big negative surprise, the last print that is, and my sense is that the inflation will probably stay at an elevated level at least for the next one quarter or so, so that will also push out the rate cut probabilities that some people were building in for the near term. So, yes, those are the reasons why I think there could be a breather, there could be a consolidation phase in the market over the next, say, one to two quarters or so.

show Idalia Tropical Storm Idalia forms near Mexico, heads to Florida
Idalia formed Sunday in the Caribbean, buffeting southeastern Mexico with wind and rain, as forecasters predicted it will strengthen to a hurricane before reaching Florida later in the week. The storm, which is not forecast to make landfall in Mexico, will travel across the Gulf of Mexico before reaching northwest Florida, the US National Hurricane Center said. Idalia will create «increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge and hurricane-force winds along portions of the west coast of Florida and the Florida Panhandle beginning as early as Tuesday,» the NHC warned. «There is considerable spread in the model intensity guidance, ranging from minimal to major hurricane status before landfall on the northeast Gulf coast,» the NHC added. The NHC predicted Idalia will have made landfall in Florida by 7:00 am (1100 GMT) Wednesday, in an image showing the storm's likely path. At 0300 GMT Monday, Idalia was swirling in the Caribbean, headed northeast with maximum sustained winds of 60 miles (95 kilometers) per hour, the NHC said. Storm surge and hurricane watches have been issued for parts of Florida's coast and scattered flash flooding can be expected, the NHC said. Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in 33 counties in preparation for the storm's arrival. In the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, home to Cancun and other coastal tourist resorts, Idalia dumped rain and put a damper on one of the last weekends of summer vacations. Heavy rainfall is expected across parts of the eastern Yucatan in Mexico and western Cuba. A week ago, Hilary, which at one point rose to a Category 4 hurricane on the five-point Saffir-Simpson scale, hit the state of Baja California on Mexico's Pacific coast as a tropical storm,

UPS Provident show performer track etmarkets ETMarkets Smart Talk: Aashish P Somaiyaa explains why India will stand out compared to peers, especially the US
“India is standing out not only now, but it is likely to stand out in the forthcoming few years as well because the prime reason which is not discussed enough is that we are counter-cyclical to the western world, especially to the US,” says Aashish P Somaiyaa, Chief Executive Officer, White Oak Capital Management. In an interview with ETMarkets on the sidelines of Investing Accelerator Summit 2023, Somaiyaa said: “Apart from all the other structural positives that have been spoken about India, this is one thing which is not spoken enough” Edited excerpts:How should one pick the fund – is 1–year performance a good benchmark to select a fund?In fact, one-year performance is exactly not the benchmark. In fact, it is a contra-indicator, that is what my analysis kind of tells me. The thought about speaking on why winners rotate comes from the fact that when we track investor behaviour or even if you track fund flows in the industry, what you will find is typically a lot of money ends up going to people who have done very very well in the last 1 year or maybe in the last 3 years period. At this juncture, if you take the best performing fund of the last three years you put money in there, and then wait till August 2026 to see how it plays out — you will find is that the correlation between ranks for the last three years and the rank for performance in the subsequent three years, the correlation of these two ranks is practically nothing.

UPS China developer Evergrande resumes trading in Hong Kong
trading in Hong Kong on Monday after the company was suspended for 17 months for not publishing its financial results. Trading «resumed at 9:00 am (0100 GMT) today», according to a notice posted on the Hong Kong stock exchange. The move comes after the company said in a filing on Friday that it had «fulfilled the resumption guidance» set out by the bourse, including belatedly publishing its financial results and complying with other listing rules. Its shares plunged 86.67 percent at the opening. Once China's largest real estate firm, Evergrande defaulted in 2021 and is saddled with more than $300 billion in liabilities, becoming a symbol of the nationwide property crisis that many fear could spill over globally. The company on Sunday reported fresh losses for the first half of the year amounting to 33 billion yuan ($4.53 billion), as well as dwindling liquidity, with just $556 million in cash assets. Evergrande's creditors will vote Monday on a proposal from the developer regarding its offshore debt that is shaping up to be one of China's biggest restructurings ever. The plan offers creditors a choice to swap their debt into new notes issued by the company and equities in two subsidiaries, Evergrande Property Services Group and Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group. Earlier this month, the company filed for bankruptcy protection in the United States, a measure to protect its US assets during its restructuring.
