Israel says it's open to short truce in Gaza but continues with strikes
Benjamin Netanyahu said he's open to a short truce in the country's war with Hamas that would lead to the release of a small number of the around 100 hostages still held by the militant group in Gaza. Netanyahu's remarks followed a meeting between his top negotiator and senior Qatari and US officials in Doha on Monday, aimed at reviving stalled cease-fire talks following Israel's killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar this month. Discussions centered on a plan proposed by Egypt, one of the mediators between the warring sides. Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday proposed a two-day suspension of hostilities and the freeing of four hostages in exchange for a number of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.

Did Beyonce snub Harris by not performing at her Houston rally? Crowd boos; Trump rips the VP
Beyonce is one of those stars in America who has the ability of pulling in crowds out of thin air, even if a slight hint of her presence is rumored in any event. It appears that the Democrats made full use of this strategy by announcing that the American star would be performing at a Harris rally in Houston on Saturday, but ultimately Beyonce snubbed everyone and did not perform at the event.

US election 2024 witnessed a crucial twist when President Joe Biden's revealed that he was going to drop out of the 2024 White House race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee triggered one of the most remarkable transformations in American politics, as per a report on AFP. Harris was previously saddled with record low approval ratings for a 'veep'. Within a few short weeks she created an election campaign out of nothing. She held rapturous rallies, raised more than $1 billion in funds and brought what she called a burst of joy to a party that had given up hope.

Did the Democrats circumvent democracy by selecting Harris? Shark Tank star Kevin O'Leary thinks so
O'Leary drew parallels to the 2016 Democratic primary, arguing that the party favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders, limiting competition. He contended that the Democratic National Committee's bias in that election mirrored the current situation with Harris. Despite pushback from the panelists, including CNN's Abby Phillips, who argued that Harris did compete in the primary process, O'Leary maintained his stance, claiming many Democrats felt sidelined in favor of a predetermined nominee. US remains a key stabiliser in middle east tensions, says former Indian foreign secretary
Middle East, India has solid oil reserves sufficient to last 12 days, with additional supplies in refineries that can sustain the country for about 18 days. However, any breakdown in the Strait of Hormuz lasting beyond 30 days could have significant lagging effects on the global economy and Indian markets, said former Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai on Monday. “Moreover, there is concern that if a war spreads into the Gulf, it could affect the eight million expatriates living there,” he added. The diplomat made these observations while discussing “The Middle East Quagmire: Will the Iran-Israel War Spiral Further?” at an event organized by Synergia, a Bengaluru-based think tank. Speaking about the recent developments and Israel's decision to scale back its attacks on Iran, Mathai believes that US influence remains a key stabilizer in the region, as its presence deters large-scale conflict. “While Israel has formidable military and technological capacities, its vulnerabilities are showing. It currently needs U.S. assistance and must therefore rely on maintaining a solid line of communication with the decision-making authorities in Washington,” Mathai explained, adding that recent figures indicate as much as 40% of the next supply of missiles for the Iron Dome and Arrow will need to come from American sources.

Gold Prices
Gold prices rise by Rs 500 per 10 gm ahead of Dhanteras festivities
The recent surge in the prices was a momentum play following an escalation in the Middle East conflict, with Israel preparing to act on Iran’s missile attack. The US Fed Reserve’s interest rate cut, central banks' gold buying, upcoming US election and geopolitical risk are continuing to remain the key supportive factors for bullion prices. Investors may look for accumulation on any decline in the prices. The current market environment could be favourable for a strategic allocation in gold as an investment in the portfolio, said Tapan Patel, Fund Manager-Commodities, Tata Asset Management.

Jim Rogers' investment advice amid 'extremely bad' US recession prediction
Jim Rogers has said. Rogers, who co-founded the famed Quantum fund with billionaire George Soros in the 1970s, told MarketWatch in a recent interview that history would suggest that a recession is imminent. He believes “America’s never gone this long without a recession in its history,” and it’s “overdue” for more economic problems. “I do know there’s going to be a recession again, and I do know it’s going to be extremely bad.” If the economy turns sour, Rogers believes gold and silver will do well, along with commodities in general. Amid this prediction, Jim Rogers also has an investing advice.

US election results: Is Donald Trump fearing defeat against Kamala Harris?
The Republican ex-president, who is in a dead heat with Democrat Kamala Harris in the race for the White House, has never acknowledged the legitimacy of his election defeats — from the 2016 Iowa primary to his presidential contest in 2020. His denialism deeply polarized the country last time around, and his continued attempts to sow distrust in US democracy have sparked fears of a repeat of the violence seen during the 2021 storming of the US Capitol.
