SOP in final stages to facilitate visa for Chinese technicians needed in mfg units: Official
PLI scheme, the government is in the final stages to put in place similar processes for other manufacturing units, an official said. The move assumes significance as some domestic manufacturing firms have flagged the issue of delay in getting visas for Chinese technicians, who are required for works like installation or repair of certain machines, besides training workers in India. «Most of the PLI (production-linked incentive scheme) visas have been taken care of. For general manufacturing also, we are trying to create a better streamlined SOP… that is with the Ministry of Home Affairs. It's at the final stages. We are hoping to sort it out. We have done a lot of sensitisation,» the official said. The rollout of SOPs does not require any approval from the Union cabinet as it is an internal process to relax norms «a bit» for facilitating visa applications of Chinese professionals or technicians whose expertise is required by domestic manufacturing units, the official added.

Capital goods train delay hits India Inc's capex plans as manufacturers in China & Southeast Asia embark on their own expansion plans
import of capital goods and machinery to build factories as manufacturers in China and Southeast Asia embark on their own expansion plans. That could potentially hobble their ability to meet any rise in consumption demand. Reliance is among Indian companies facing such challenges as it looks to set up production facilities for its fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business and scale it up, said a senior executive, citing difficulties in establishing bottling plants for Campa Cola with machinery suppliers asking for a year and more. Reliance didn't respond to queries.

India major gainer of China+1, exports to soar to $835 billion by 2030: Nomura
New Delhi: India and Vietnam are gaining the most from the China plus one strategy, which is also expected to unlock new growth opportunities for Asian economies, according to Nomura. India's exports will likely surge to $835 billion by 2030 from $431 billion in 2023 with its large domestic market helping attract firms looking for supply chain alternatives to China, Nomura said in a report on Tuesday. «Firms in electronics, apparel & toys, automobile & components, capital goods and semiconductor manufacturing are looking to invest in India. Given India's large domestic consumer market, firms setting up shop in India are attracted also because of the captive domestic market,» Nomura said, predicting a 10% annual growth over the period.

Will there be 'The Sympathizer' Season 2? This is what Executive Producers Amanda Burrell and Susan Downey said
HBO on May 26, the most pertinent question that popped up was- will there be a sequel? This was supported by the fact that the end was not conclusive and it left enough scope for another season. Created by Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar, the miniseries revolves around the Captain (Hoa Xuande), a North Vietnamese spy in the South Vietnamese army. He escapes to the U.S. with his general toward the end of the Vietnam War.

How Arunachal's Rupa Bayor fought odds to become Taekwondo champion
Rupa Bayor and her being a path-breaking Taekwondo player is just one of the reasons. After all, the youngster from Arunachal Pradesh has spent a better part of her life punching back after being punched hard by life. The most recent demonstration of it was an unprecedented bronze medal in the 8th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Danang, Vietnam earlier this month, less than a year after being forced to skip the Asian Games because of denial of visa by China. «I was always a very unyielding and combative person. I could get into a fight at the drop of a hat,» the 23-year-old told PTI in an interview as she talked about what drove her to Taekwondo given that Sippi village in Daporijo circle of Upper Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh isn't exactly the cradle of the sport.
