Imagine making shadowy data brokers erase your personal info. Californians may soon live the dream
personal data you probably never agreed to share — everything from your real-time location information to private financial details. Even if you could identify these data brokers, there isn't much you can do about their activities, including in California, which has some of the strongest digital privacy laws in the U.S. That's on the verge of changing. Both houses of the California state Legislature have passed the Delete Act, which would establish a «one stop shop» where individuals could order hundreds of data brokers registered in the state to delete their personal data — and to cease acquiring and selling it in the future — with a single request.

Tokyo Hopes Rooftop Solar Mandate Will Help It Get Through Hot Summers
solar panels on new single-family homes to get some breathing room—even if it has to buy most of the panels from China. The policy in one of the world’s largest metropolises is a test case for whether solar power makes sense on urban rooftops. Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten to be freed after 53 years? What we know so far
Leslie Van Houten, the infamous killer and follower of cult leader Charles Manson, is likely to be freed from prison after five decades. California governor Gavin Newsom has announced that he won’t ask the state Supreme Court to block parole for Leslie Van Houten, as per reports. This paves the way for her release after serving 53 years in prison for two infamous murders. In a brief statement, the governor’s office said it was unlikely that the state's high court would consider an appeal of a lower court ruling that Van Houten should be released. Gov. Gavin Newsom is disappointed, the statement said. «More than 50 years after the Manson cult committed these brutal killings, the victims’ families still feel the impact,» the statement said.
