Hurricane Hilary struck Los Angeles for the first time since 1939, it left trails of devastation. An aerial view taken from a helicopter shows that the stadium for the LA Dodgers baseball team is surrounded by water from four sides though the field still appears spared.
Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts told journalists that a hurricane in Southern California was most unexpected. Echoing him, San Diego National Weather Service meteorologist Elizabeth Adams said that it was for the first time that a warning for a tropical storm was issued for the West Coast of the United States.
Though the National Weather Service downgraded Hurricane Hilary before it made landfall in Mexico and swept over California, it brought heavy rainfall causing flash floods in many parts of the state. Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a hurricane warning for Southern California and made preparation related to that.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed concerns that the storm may come back causing further damage as it may catch the people unprepared. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has said that the tropical storm is most likely to cross Nevada on Monday.
