Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said Narendra Modi's tenure as prime minister marks India's golden era after independence. China has not liked Tesla CEO Elon Musk planning to open an electric car factory in India. Musk is set to travel to India later this month and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with plans for a Tesla factory expected to be announced. Musk has negotiated with the Indian government for long. He preferred to import cars into India at a lower duty while India wanted him to manufacture cars locally. He is likely to announce Tesla's India entry after the government announced its new EV policy last month which is likely to suit him. Leader of Opposition in the state assembly V D Satheesan said that for the past more than 30 days, Vijayan has been reading out the same speech attacking the Congress and Gandhi, while avoiding the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah labelling his faction of the Shiv Sena as "fake", Thackeray said that the Maharashtra-based party was founded by Bal Thackeray and is "not your degree", it added. The manifesto committee, chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, has already held two meetings. The BJP has received over 1.5 million suggestions for its manifesto, including more than 400,000 through the NaMo app and over 1.1 million through videos. According to party sources, the BJP's manifesto will focus on development, a prosperous India, women, youth, the poor, and farmers. The party pledges to fulfil only those promises that are achievable. The theme of the manifesto will be «Modi's Guarantee: Developed India 2047,» with a focus on cultural nationalism.

Starlink for a satcom licence, despite pending issues such as its ties with US security agencies. The Elon Musk-owned company may be given “conditional approval”, based on an undertaking furnished by it, said people with knowledge of the matter. “As per the undertaking, Starlink may be asked to not share with any US agency the machines or equipment used in India, while data should not be routed outside the country,” one of the persons told ET, asking not to be named. Further, the satcom company may be asked to partner with an Indian company in atime-bound manner. This comes as Musk is set to travel to India later this month and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with plans for a Tesla factory expected to be announced. An internal committee of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is working on the Starlink application. Since some of the issues, including those related to Starlink’s collaboration with American intelligence agencies, remain open, the company can only be granted conditional approval, the people said.

Airtel and Jio stand sharply divided on various issues related to satcom and have battled each other over complexities that surround satcom. The rivalry between the two biggies, with other satcom players also divided sharply, continues. A few days ago, they locked horns over the usage and price of satcom. The main issue, whether satcom spectrum should be allocated administratively or auctioned, has been settled with the new Telecommunication Act, 2023, giving legislative backing to allocation of satellite spectrum via the administrative or the ‘non-auction route’. At present, the DoT is finalising the modalities.
