As per the notification, effective from Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will continue to be the chairman of the Aayog with Suman Bery as the vice-chairman and VK Saraswat, Ramesh Chand, VK Paul and Arvind Virmani as full-time members of the Aayog.

This came a day after the Indian Army rejected claims in social media posts that compensation hasn't been paid to the next of kin of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, who lost his life in the line of duty, and said his family has already been given Rs 98.39 lakh out of the due amount. The total amount will be Rs 1.65 crore approximately, it said in the «clarification» on Wednesday that came after Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi shared on X a video purportedly of Ajay's father, who stated that they had not received any money.

DRDO on Wednesday handed over to the Indian Navy a niche technology that obscures radar signals and creates a microwave shield around platforms and assets, thus reducing radar detection, the defence ministry said. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over the Medium Range-Microwave Obscurant Chaff Rocket (MR-MOCR) to the Navy at a ceremony here. «Microwave Obscurant Chaff (MOC), a niche technology developed by DRDO's Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur, obscures radar signals and creates a microwave shield around platforms and assets, thus reducing radar detection,» the ministry said in a statement. A special type of fibres with a diameter of a few microns and unique microwave obscuration properties have been assembled in the medium-range chaff rocket. When fired, the rocket forms microwave obscurant clouds in space spreading over a sufficient area with adequate persistence time, thus creating an effective shield against threats having radio frequency seekers, it said.

Three sets of nominations were filed in support of Suresh, a Dalit leader and eight-term MP. Suresh, born on June 4, 1962, in Kodikunnil, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is a notable figure in Indian politics. INDIA bloc is unlikely to contest the Lok Sabha Speaker's post and the NDA nominee is likely to be elected unopposed, sources said Tuesday ahead of filing of nomination for the key post. However, the Opposition has demanded that they be given the choice to pick the deputy speaker. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge late on Monday night and sought the support of the opposition on the issue. Singh, however, gave no assurance to the opposition on its demand for the deputy speaker's post, the sources said.
