We are making big investments in defence sector in next 10 years, says Adani Defence CEO
Adani Group is going to make big investments in the defence sector in the next 10 years in line with the government's push for achieving self-reliance in defence manufacturing, a top executive of the company said. Ashish Rajvanshi, the CEO of Adani Defence and Aerospace, said the company is complementing the government's efforts towards 'Make in India', noting that «everyone will have to work together» to realise the desired goal. «We are going to make big investments in the defence sector in the next 10 years,» he said at NDTV's 'Defence Summit' on Thursday. Rajvanshi, however, did not elaborate on the investments.

Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the new administrative and training building of Naval War College at INS Mandovi near Panaji on March 5, a Navy official said on Friday. Rear Admiral Arjun Dev Nair, Commandant of the Naval War College told reporters that the building will help the institute train officers from all three military services three times more than its current strength. «This modern edifice has been named as 'Chola' in commemoration of the mighty maritime empire of the Chola dynasty. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the new building on March 5 and the ceremony will be attended by senior naval leadership in addition to ex-commandants of the Naval War College,» he said. According to him, the College of Naval Warfare was established at INS Karanja in 1988 in Mumbai to impart advanced professional military education to the middle and senior level officers of the Indian Navy. The college was renamed as Naval War College in 2010 and was shifted to its current location at Goa in 2011. With the vision of being the pre-eminent iconic institution for higher military education, the mission of the college is to prepare officers of the armed forces for leadership at strategic and operational levels, Nair said.

India has conducted two successful flight tests of a very short-range air defence missile off the coast of Odisha. The tests were carried out on Wednesday and Thursday. «The DRDO conducted two successful flight tests of Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles on February 28 and 29 from a ground-based portable launcher off the coast of Odisha from integrated test range, Chandipur,» the defence ministry said. It said the tests were carried out against high-speed unmanned aerial targets under different interception scenarios. «During all the test flights, the targets were intercepted and destroyed by the missiles, meeting the mission objectives,» the ministry said.

Indian Navy to bolster anti-submarine warfare capabilities with MH 60R helicopter induction
Indian Navy next week when it inducts the aerial marvel, the MH 60R helicopter into its fleet, bolstering the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will commission the newly inducted MH 60R Seahawk multi-role helicopter at the INS Garuda here on March 6, Navy officials said. The squadron will be commissioned in the Indian Navy as INAS 334, under the Command of Captain M Abhisheik Ram. The Indian government signed a deal with the United States of America in February 2020, to acquire 24 fourth-generation MH 60R helicopters. Six of them have been delivered to the Indian Navy so far.
