Will China’s economic slowdown hurt gold market? Sachin Jain explains
«What I can say is that from a gold point of view, you have to look at the fundamentals of where gold is headed and what are the reasons of those fundamentals, the way they are panning out?,» says Sachin Jain, Regional CEO India, World Gold Council Gold prices have hit a record high of $2,570 per ounce. Do you expect this upward trend in gold prices to continue? What is your internal estimate? Where do you see the prices to be going forward because foreign brokerages are expecting gold prices to touch around $2,700 levels. Sachin Jain: So, I will not be able to comment on the recommendations or the target given by Goldman Sachs or any other company. But what I can say is that from a gold point of view, you have to look at the fundamentals of where gold is headed and what are the reasons of those fundamentals, the way they are panning out? First of them is the central bank's buying, that is an important consideration. Second is the consumption demand in jewellery. The third is how the financial markets normally react. And the fourth is normally the new age requirements of gold, which are mostly around to do with new age technology and so on and so forth.

Metallic gowns and embellishments were also a popular choice and many stars wore thoughtful details that reflect their cultural heritage. This year’s awards offered a little something for every TV fan.

US stock market predictions, top shares to watch: High-flying S&P 500, Nasdaq, Dow Jones eye Fed rate cut, recession
US stock market indexes — S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Dow Jones — will be look up to the Federal Reserve. There are worries over the economy as well as the uncertainty on how much the U.S. central bank will cut interest rates at its monetary policy meeting. The S&P 500 index is just 1% shy of its July record high despite weeks of market swings sparked by worries over the economy and seesawing bets on the size of the cut at the Fed's September 17-18 meeting. With the S&P 500 up about 18% so far this year, it may not take much to disappoint investors with next week's Fed meeting. While the renewed hopes for a bigger cut were boosting large cap indexes on Friday the optimism seemed most evident in the Russell 2000 small cap index, which rose 2.5% on the day and 4.4% for the week.

Trump campaign blasts NYT for 'blood and soil' label on Vance's ideology, calls headline 'disgusting'
Republican nominees Donald Trump and JD Vance have strongly criticized The New York Times for a headline used in an opinion piece against Vance. The article, written by Opinion columnist Jamelle Bouie, was titled «JD Vance’s Blood-and-Soil Nationalism Finds Its Target.» It criticized Vance, the vice presidential candidate, for claiming that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating pets and wildlife. The same claims were mentioned by Trump during a recent presidential debate. Bouie's column also linked Vance's comments to bomb threats made against schools and government buildings in Springfield. Trump campaign advisor Alex Bruesewitz called the headline «disgusting» and demanded an apology from the newspaper.

Mondo caps ‘beautiful season’ with meet record
Brussels: Pole vaulter Armand Duplantis capped a «beautiful season» with a meet record in the Diamond League Final that was far from his world record. Duplantis has broken the world record three times this year; the second time was when he won his second Olympic gold medal in Paris, and the most recent in a league meet in Poland on Aug. 25, clearing 6.26 meters. But after he made 5.92 that nobody else could match in Brussels, he nailed 6.11 at his first attempt and stopped. That was one centimeter more than his own Memorial Van Damme record set last year, and he said he was too tired to continue. Afterwards, he said his 100-meter victory over 400 hurdles world record-holder Karsten Warholm in Zurich last week took more out of him than expected.

Mamata's bid to convince agitating doctors hits a stalemate after the West Bengal CM says no to live-streamed talks
junior doctors and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee failed as the doctors demanded video recording of the meeting after reaching Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence in Kalighat, which was denied by the Police citing security issues. The protesting students said, «The video streaming cannot be done by both sides. Only they will do the video recording. However, we were not allowed to video and the CM said that the video will not be shared to us as the matter is subjudice. Paying respect to the CM, we thought of paying respect to her and we will get the minutes. Then, the Health Minister said it is too late and the meeting cannot be conducted.» Chief secretary Manoj Pant and junior health minister Chandrima Bhattacharya were present along with Banerjee at the meeting originally scheduled to begin at 7.15 in the evening. All 35 doctors present were allowed into the chief minister's home.

Julien Alfred ends perfect season, Ingebrigtsen earns revenge
Julien Alfred completed her perfect season at the finale of the Diamond League series in Brussels on Friday, while Jakob Ingebrigtsen secured victory in the 1,500 metres to make up for his Paris hiccup. Alfred, the Olympic gold medallist from St Lucia, led most of the women's 100 metres but was pushed close to the line by Britain's Dina Asher-Smith, to finish in 10.88 seconds. American Sha'Carri Richardson, the silver medallist in Paris, ended a disappointing eighth. Ingebrigtsen, who won the men's 5,000 metres in Paris but came in a disappointing fourth in the 1,500 metres, led into the final lap of the middle distance race in Brussels, kicking away from his nearest rivals with 200 metres to go.
