Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday said throwing youths into the war zone in Israel for «employment» is not an achievement but a matter of shame. Her remarks came after Adityanath took a veiled jibe at Priyanka Gandhi for carrying a handbag to Parliament that had 'Palestine' emblazoned on it. «Yesterday, a Congress leader was seen walking around Parliament carrying a Palestine bag, while we are sending our youth to Israel for opportunities. »So far, more than 5,600 youth from Uttar Pradesh have gone to Israel for construction work. Every youth gets free food and accommodation besides a monthly salary of Rs 1.5 lakh there. There is also full guarantee of safety," Adityanath said on the second day of the Winter Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

Sanatan Board will be cleared at a congregation of prominent seers and sages at the Maha Kumbh here and will be submitted to the central government, President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad Mahant Ravindra Puri said on Sunday. He announced that a Dharma Sansad will be held during the Maha Kumbh on January 26, the UP government said in a statement. «Prominent seers and sages from across the country, including Shankaracharyas from all four Peeths and heads of 13 Akharas, will gather at the Sangam. »The Sansad will propose the formation of a Sanatan Board which will be submitted to the central government for approval. The goal is to establish a well-structured, government-recognised board that upholds the principles of Sanatan Dharma without any shortcomings," he said.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the main essence of the three newly implemented criminal laws- Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita- 2023, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita- 2023, and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam- 2023- in the country lies in delivering justice, rather than focusing solely on crime and punishment. These three laws came into force on July 1, 2024. CM Yogi inaugurated the National Conference on the Role of Forensic Science and Cyber Security in the Justice Process, organized on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution in Lucknow on Tuesday. “With the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, three new laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023—were implemented on July 1, 2024,” he said. He further added the essence of these laws lies not in criminal codes and penal provisions but in a code of justice and civil security. The process will begin with evidence collection, followed by bringing the accused to justice, he mentioned in his speech.

Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) successfully kept the impressive electoral might of the BJP at bay for a second time, thwarting apparent bids to polarise the state known as a tribal stronghold on religious lines. The JMM-led alliance secured a victory against the BJP in the state assembly elections. This marks the second consecutive defeat for the BJP in Jharkhand. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday distributed appointment letters to 701 forest inspectors. They were selected through the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) under the state government’s initiative “Mission Rozgaar”. Speaking at the function, organized at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, CM Yogi said his government is committed to forest and environmental conservation while referring to the future responsibilities of the newly appointed officers. He also added his government will continue to ensure a fair recruitment process. There is no place for nepotism, he further said. Appreciating the UPSSSC for providing opportunities based on merit, CM Yogi said seven lakh youths got jobs through transparent procedures since 2017. He said his government has eradicated nepotism and favouritism in the recruitment process.

Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday likened the BJP and RSS to «poison» and termed them as «politically most dangerous» in India. Addressing a rally in Sangli on the penultimate day before the campaigning for the Maharashtra assembly polls concluded, Kharge used the «killing the poisonous snake» analogy in his speech. «If there is anything which is politically the most dangerous in India is the BJP and RSS. They are like poison. If a snake bites, the person (who is bitten) dies...such a poisonous snake should be killed,» said Kharge. He targeted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the death of 10 newborns in a fire at a medical college.

Sachin Pilot on Sunday slammed the BJP for terms like 'vote jihad' and 'dharmyudh' as well as the 'batenge toh katenge' slogan but asserted people are wise and will not succumb to such attempts to polarise. Addressing a press conference, the former Rajasthan deputy chief minister also claimed the BJP had brought forward smaller parties to eat into Maha Vikas Aghadi votes but this plan would fail. Asserting that a slogan like 'batenge toh katenge' should not be uttered by someone like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is occupying a constitutional post, Pilot said one should instead use 'padhoge toh badhoge' (education will bring progress). Speaking on 'vote jihad', he said, «The language used by Yogiji and Devendra Fadnavisji is unwarranted. To what extent would you do politics on the basis of religion? In Ayodhya, where Ram Temple was built, the BJP lost the Lok Sabha polls. Polarisation is happening but people are wise and understand.»

Yogi Adityanath said the decreasing population in the hill parts is quite worrying. He underlined the need for giving proper attention to the problem of migration in Uttarakhand and steps must be taken to stop it. He further added that there are many possibilities in Uttarakhand to stop the migration. He was speaking at a function, called Raibar-6, organized at Ambedkar Bhavan in New Delhi on Saturday. CM Yogi said there is a vast scope for spiritual and adventure tourism in Uttarakhand. Reminding the gathering about the existing religious places like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, CM Yogi said everyone, who is a Sanatani, wants to offer his or her prayer at all such places in the hill state. He emphasized that tourism should be promoted in the hills in view of the presence of religious places. Besides, there is a need to promote adventure tourism in this state as the beautiful mountains exist everywhere. The people of the plain areas may be attracted toward this.

Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday formed a four-member committee to probe into the fire at the children's ward of a medical college in Jhansi that snuffed out the lives of 10 newborns as officials suspect electrical short circuit to be the cause of the tragic incident. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already directed the Divisional Commissioner of Jhansi, the fire department and the deputy inspector general of police to submit a report on the incident within 12 hours. Amid claims that the medical college had expired fire extinguishers, Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak asserted all firefighting equipment in the college was completely fine and a fire safety audit was carried out in February and a mock drill in June. Principal of the medical college, Dr Narendra Singh Sengar, also termed the allegations «baseless».

Akhilesh Yadav on Friday criticized the BJP-led government, accusing it of undermining the Constitution while emphasizing his party's commitment to safeguarding democracy. «The government that does encounters doesn't trust the Constitution,» said Yadav during a public rally in support of Dr Charu Kain, the Samajwadi Party candidate for Khair constituency. «We have worked to educate people about the Constitution and the INDIA alliance has gained widespread support. But that doesn't mean the ruling party cannot meddle with it. We, the Samajwadi Party, will continue to protect the Constitution and our democracy,» he added. Taking a jibe at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Yadav said, «Sadhus and saints speak less, but in 'kalyug' (the current age), they are speaking more.»

BJP leader and the State's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lashed out at the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance for allegedly yielding to demands from the Ulema Council, a Muslim clerical body. In an interview with ANI, Fadnavis said that the Ulema Council had presented 17 demands to the MVA, which the alliance reportedly accepted through a formal letter. «The Ulema Council declared support to them, and they put forward 17 demands. They (MVA) have given a formal letter that says we accept these 17 demands. I have no objection if someone puts forward any demands; I just question which of these demands are acceptable. I will tell you one demand,» he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said all expenses of individuals seeking financial aid for treatment for serious illnesses will be covered so they can get care at top hospitals. He attended a 'Janata Darshan' programme in Gorakhpur today. Before departing for the Jharkhand Assembly election campaign in Mirzapur, he met around 150 people at the programme organised at the Gorakhpur Temple, an official statement said. Adityanath instructed officials to expedite the process of issuing Ayushman cards to those who don't have it and require financial assistance, it said.

Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday accused him of oppressing the opposition, toppling elected governments and purchasing legislators «like goats to feed and feast on them later». He also charged Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of running the central government with «Adani and Ambani». Kharge attacked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleging that he believes in 'Mukh me Ram, bagal me chhuri' (A wolf in lamb's clothing). «Modi-ji believes in toppling governments. He purchases MLA. Unka kaam MLAs ko bakri ke jaise apne pas rakh lena, palna aur fir baad me kaat kar khana hai...(Modi keeps MLAs like goats, feeds them and later feasts on them). This is Modi,» Kharge alleged.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said a man becomes a «saint» not by what he wears but what he speaks. The dig, apparently aimed at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, was made on the birthday of 'Khajanchi' — a boy born to a woman standing in a queue to exchange banknotes after demonetisation. The boy was named so by Yadav.

Pawan Kalyan, Andra Pradesh deputy chief minister and Jana Sena chief, publicly criticised state Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Monday. Kalyan expressed concern over recent crimes against children and the overall law and order situation in the state. Speaking in his constituency, Pithapuram, Kalyan stated that the Home Minister should take responsibility for the current situation. He even suggested that he might take over the Home Ministry if things didn't improve. “I am telling this to Anitha," Kalyan said. «You are the home minister, I am the panchayati raj and forest and environment minister. Discharge your duties well. I can get the home ministry if I want. If the situation remains the same, I will be forced to take a decision. The situation would be different if I became the home minister.»

BJP leaders said that PM Modi is likely to address 11 rallies between November 8 and 14. Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule told that PM Modi is expected to address election meetings in Dhule and Nashik on November 8, Akola and Nanded on November 9, Chandrapur, Chimur, Solapur and Pune on November 12 and Sambhajinagar, Navi Mumbai, and Mumbai on November 14.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale while sounding approval of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's political pitch of 'Batenge to katenge'. Describing BJP chief JP Nadda brother from the same ideological family, Hosabale said Sangh understood the spirit of Nadda's remarks and even he had food at his residence after the Lok Sabha polls. Hosabale was referring to Nadda's reported remarks that the BJP is not dependent on Sangh for elections and other works.
