This famous science magazine endorsed a U.S. presidential candidate for only the second time in its 179-year history; this is whom they have endorsed
Scientific American has only twice received presidential endorsements. After receiving a presidential endorsement, a prestigious science magazine, only the second in its 179-year history, has entered the political arena. On Monday, Scientific American announced its official endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris with the headline, ‘Vote for Kamala Harris to Support Science, Health, and the Environment.’ After supporting President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, Harris is Scientific American's second-ever presidential endorsement in the publication's history. The editors pushed a candidate who offers the country better prospects, relying on science, solid evidence, and the willingness to learn from experience, writing that the US faces two futures. In the other future, the new president puts public health and safety in jeopardy and rejects evidence, preferring instead absurd conspiracy theories. U.S. elections: Fox News poll shows Kamala Harris ahead of Trump by 2 percentage points
Donald Trump by two percentage points, according to a recent nationwide poll conducted by Fox News. According to the survey, registered voters' opinions of the presidential candidates for 2024 have changed by three points since August. Trump was ahead by one point the previous month, but Harris is currently ahead by two points. In the Fox survey, the Democratic candidate had a 50% favorability rating while her opponent had 48% of the vote. 72% of Trump's followers say they approve of his record and policies. Nearly 20% of respondents claim to simply dislike Harris. Supporters of Harris are somewhat more divided: 42% of them support her because they appreciate her record and policies, 24% because they think she is a good person, and 33% because they detest Trump. The latest survey is the result of several incidents that might have given Harris more backing. August saw the Democratic National Convention. Kennedy's name was taken off of several ballots around the nation when Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the presidential contest and announced his support for Donald Trump. Politicians like former Representative Liz Cheney and Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter, as well as celebrities like Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, have endorsed Harris. There seems to have been another attempt on Trump's life. Based on Fox polls, the largest shifts are coming from independent and Hispanic voters. Independent voters preferred Trump by eight points in August. Harris is currently in the lead by 12 points.

China welcomes more Indian investments, ambassador says
Indian investments and commodities in the Chinese market and also hopes that India will provide a «sound business environment» for Chinese firms in the country, Beijing's ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, said on Thursday. The comments signal a willingness from Beijing to forge deeper economic ties with New Delhi that have been strained since a deadly clash between their troops on a Himalayan frontier in 2020. India heightened scrutiny on Chinese investments after the clash and created new layers of red tape for Indian firms with Chinese stakeholders. But the Indian government is now looking to loosen some of these restrictions as its firms struggle to scale up manufacturing.
