According to the World Health Organization estimates, the disaster has affected more than 300,000 people in the ancient old city and its outskirts. The number of casualties is expected to rise. The Moroccan Red Crescent (MRC) has said the situation on the ground posed a vast challenge to search and rescue efforts, and «getting heavy machinery into those remote areas of the Atlas Mountains to help with that is a priority». As more people were being pulled out of the rubble, the MRC and other first responders were working around the clock to identify and prioritize the most severe cases, the MRC said in a statement. The agency officials also claimed that the alleged fraud has caused a huge loss to the state government in excess of Rs 300 crores. The dispute settlement mechanism of WTO has been derailed due to a non-functional appellate body since December 2019. «We reiterate the need to pursue WTO reform to improve all its functions through an inclusive member-driven process, and remain committed to conducting discussions with a view to having a fully and well-functioning dispute settlement system accessible to all members by 2024, » the G20 declaration has said. Trade experts said that all the members would have to work together to achieve this 2024 goal. «G20 members have agreed to pursue WTO reforms, specifically aiming for a functional dispute settlement system accessible to all members by 2024.

Russia and the U.S. both praised a G20 summit declaration that stopped short of directly criticising Moscow for the war in Ukraine as the bloc's leaders headed into the final day of deliberations on Sunday. Moroccan earthquake survivors huddled for a night in the open on the High Atlas Mountains on Saturday, a day after the country’s deadliest quake in more than six decades killed more than 2,000 people and laid waste to villages.
