Nifty witnesses profit booking with fresh short built up at higher levels, declining momentum, and the deteriorating underlying trend strength. Though the overall trend remains intact on the upside, we believe it is time for some overdue price correction. The price structure of Nifty is forward an upward-sloping channel for which the range at present is 22,900 – 22,000. The prices are just a tad around its March ATH of 22,500. It would be interesting to see if its prices can sustain this level in the next one or two days and revert to upside momentum, or if we are in for further correction to lower levels of 22,240 – 22,100. The upside resistance for Nifty is at 22,900 – 22,850.

Lok Sabha polls, the demand for chartered planes and helicopters has jumped up to 40 per cent, and the operators are expected to net 15-20 per cent more earnings, according to industry experts. The hourly rates for chartered services have also spiked. The charge is about Rs 4.5 -5.25 lakh for an aircraft and around Rs 1.5- 1.7 lakh for a twin engine helicopter, they said. While the demand has surged compared to the normal times and previous election years, there is lesser number of fixed wing aircraft and helicopters available. Some of the operators are looking to take planes and helicopters on wet lease. «There is an increase in demand for helicopters and it is up to 25 per cent more in the election period compared to the normal period. Election Commission on Saturday said Rs 45.59 crore cash and alcohol worth over Rs 151 crore was seized and 1,650 FIRs with regard to seizures have been booked since the model code of conduct came into effect on March 16. The general elections in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 26 and May 7 in 28 constituencies. The total seizures so far is worth Rs 345.89 crore, they said. According to a statement issued by the office of Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer, since the model code of conduct came into force, the flying squads, static surveillance teams and police authorities have seized Rs 46.59 crore cash, liquor bottles worth over Rs 151 crore, narcotic substances worth Rs 9.93 crore, gold worth Rs 56.86 crore and freebies worth Rs 7.73 crore among other seizures.

CBI) has registered a case against Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd and eight officials of ministry of steel over alleged corruption of Rs 315 crores in the execution of the NISP project, reported PTI quoting officials. The officers booked are from the NMDC Iron and Steel Plant. Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), which was the second-biggest buyer of electoral bonds worth Rs 966 crore, in an alleged bribery case.
