Yamuna inches closer to warning mark in Delhi
Yamuna inched closer to the warning mark in Delhi as Haryana released more water into the river from the Hathnikund barrage amid persistent rains in the upper catchment areas. According to a flood bulletin, the water level at the Old Railway Bridge increased from 203.18 metres at 1 pm on Sunday to 203.58 metres at 10 am on Monday. The warning level is 204.5 metres. The water level is anticipated to rise to 205.5 metres between 10 am and 12 noon on Tuesday, crossing the danger mark of 205.33 metres. The irrigation and flood control department said the flow rate at the Hathnikund barrage gradually increased from 1,05,453 cusecs at 4 pm on Sunday to 2,54,806 cusecs at 10 am on Monday. Normally, the flow rate at the barrage is 352 cusecs, but heavy rainfall in the catchment areas increases the discharge. The water from the barrage takes around two to three days to reach Delhi. The Delhi government issued a flood warning on Sunday and started shifting people living close to the river banks to safer areas.

'Bawaal' trailer faces Twitterati ire as love story and World War II connection baffle audiences, netizens not happy with 'Hitler’ angle
Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer 'Bawaal' sparked an outrage on Twitter after the trailer landed on Sunday following a reference to Adolf Hitler in one of the scenes. After the trailer was unveiled many questioned the connection between a love story and the reference to Hitler and World War II.Similar concerns were previously raised after the release of the film's teaser earlier last week.Nitesh Tiwari's directorial revolves around two star-crossed lovers. Dhawan steps into the shoes of Ajay Dixit, a history teacher from the suburbs who gets hitched to Nisha ( Kapoor). The couple then goes for a vacation in Europe, exploring cities like Paris that played a significant role in World War II. The historical event is used as a recurring reference in the trailer, with the characters referring to a «war within.» Ajay’s statement “We all too are like Hitler, aren’t we? We aren’t satisfied with what we have. We want what others have,” hit a wrong note with Twitterati, with many objecting to the “normalisation of Hitler”.

Saudi oil cuts throw last year's standout economy into slow lane
Saudi Arabia's decision to extend its oil production cuts part of a so far largely unsuccessful bid to raise prices may trigger an economic contraction in what was the Group of 20's fastest-growing country last year. It would be a stark turnaround for the $1 trillion economy, which surged almost 9% in 2022, helping Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman invest tens of billions of dollars in everything from sports to tourism and new cities. The boom was propelled by record crude output of around 10.5 million barrels a day and prices averaging $100 a barrel as Russia's invasion of Ukraine roiled energy markets.
