Diljit Dosanjh's Pune concert goes completely alcohol-free. Here's why
Maharashtra excise department on Sunday revoked the permit to serve alcohol at actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh's Dil-Luminati concert in Pune’s Kothrud area, scheduled for later that evening. The decision came after objections were raised by various parties, including Kothrud's newly elected BJP MLA, Chandrakant Patil. State Excise Commissioner C. Rajput confirmed the cancellation, stating, «The state excise department has withdrawn permission to serve liquor at the event.» MLA Patil expressed strong opposition to the concert, which was set to take place at Kakade Farm, citing concerns over its impact on the local community. In a statement, he remarked, «Such events are not in line with the city’s culture. They will cause significant inconvenience to residents, including noise pollution and traffic congestion. I have urged the city police commissioner to cancel the event altogether.»

Universal Health Coverage: Community health workers ‘the missing link’ say experts
non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer's remain a growing challenge due to reliance on expensive, reactive care, healthcare experts suggest building a community healthcare system and ‘operating at scale’ in rural and urban areas to help India pave the way to Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Swami Subramaniam, Physician Scientist, and Aparajithan Srivathsan, hospital strategist, spoke to ET on the sidelines of a discussion of their new book in which the duo has proposed seven principles to make UHC a reality in the country. Underlining some of the challenges in the current system, the book highlighted that “Primary healthcare in its current form is in its death throes. For its revival, it should be transformed into a new version called Comprehensive Health Care.” To strengthen the community healthcare system, India needs to think beyond traditional methods and “apply industrial concepts,” Srivathsan said, while adding, “Currently, ASHA workers, though involved in project-based interventions, are not equipped for continuous monitoring, as non-communicable diseases require long-term, consistent care. Therefore, a dedicated cadre of trained health workers is essential, and NGOs are stepping in to fill this gap."

Maharashtra+Haryana: The X factor of BJP is at work again
Maharshtra assembly elections can be attributed to a variety of factors such as strong welfare pitch and good performance by allies and the Hindutva agenda but there was one X factor which does not directly fits into the BJP's electoral machinery but helps take the issues to the grassroots: the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). After Haryana elections, when the RSS was in an overdrive and was seen to have contributed to the BJP's stunning victory, the Maharashtra elections too saw the organisation hit the ground to amplify issues which favour the BJP.

Emerging and established altcoins have also caught their attention. New cryptos, in particular, are a favourite among strategic investors because of their large growth potential. They are capable of multifold surges, unlike high-cap cryptos. For example, BTC has gained just above 100% in a year. Dogwifhat––a brand-new meme coin in early 2024––has recorded more than 1000% returns in less than a year.
